Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)

    Hour 1
Jerry and Sal are in for Boomer and Gio today. Jerry and Sal were impressed by Joe Schoen in “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants”. Schoen’s focus early in the offseason was what to do with Saquon Barkley and the value of a running back. Jerry thought the first episode made the Giants front office look like a cohesive unit. Sal loves the behind-the-scenes look but wonders what the Giants had HBO take out of the final cut. The tease for next week’s episode features Schoen saying this is the year to find out what Daniel Jones is. Sal finds it alarming that the Giants don’t know what. CLo is here for his first update of the day but first we wonder why people set off fireworks so many days outside of July 4th. He begins the update with John Mara telling Joe Schoen he’d prefer to keep Saquon Barkley. The Mets had another big 10th inning and won again. Sal wants to know why the Mets won’t share what the on-field “slap” celebration means. Jerry says let them keep it to themselves if that’s what they want. Luis Gil struggled in the 5th inning and the Yankees lost to the Reds. In the final segment of the hour, we hear from the man who made the Mets “OMG” sign and another caller gives a good reason why the Mets should not reveal the reason behind the slap celebration.
    Hour 2
Jerry says the Mets showed him a lot by winning the first two games in Washington. They could have started slipping again after losing the series to the Astros but got right back up. Sal has also bought into this team. Jerry and Sal agree that the Mets are better off being built around offense instead of relying on starting pitching to carry the team. CLo returns for an update and begins with the Mets win. Sal would rather have Alexis Diaz than his brother Edwin Diaz. Aaron Judge continues to hit home runs and wow everyone. Sal says Judge is now the best player he’s ever seen. He is, however, worried about the Yankees’ World Series chances. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry asks Sal about his move to New Jersey. Sal is proud to say he loves New Jersey.
    Hour 3
The Yankees have a lot of problems right now and Jerry and Sal go through all of them. Sal worries that the Yankees won’t be able to make the moves they need to solidify their roster to chase a World Series. CLo returns for an update but first, he and Rascona tell us about cysts they had years ago. The Mets had a 10th inning offensive explosion for the second night in a row. Pete Alonso hit a 2-run HR in the 10th but Sal says he is not having a good enough season. Aaron Boone seemed annoyed by a question about Elly De La Cruz. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry has Sal play “Ripped From the Headlines”.
    Hour 4
Sal’s biggest takeaway from the first episode of Hard Knocks is the Giants’ belief in Daniel Jones but Jerry doesn’t think the Giants' braintrust actually believes in the QB. CLo returns for an update but first we try to fill spots for the next bike tour. The Yankees will look to bounce back with Carlos Rodon tonight. Luis Robert of the White Sox had a “bad optic” play to end their loss last night. The Giants made a financial decision with Saquon Barkley and Jerry doesn’t like how it has to work out that way. The Moment of The Day involves Sal’s anger over the Mets keeping a secret. In the final segment of the show, Sal and Jerry debate if certain big names were better athletes or broadcasters.
