Hey, I'm Tyron! I'm interviewing skilled individuals from the Tech industry's underrepresented groups. Why?
1) To learn what skills, character traits, and actions have contributed to their success.
2) To reinforce the notion that a career in Tech is stimulating, rewarding, and most of all, attainable.

Don't Settle - Maynard Okereke
Hey! I hope your week is going well. This month's episode of Code Switch is another good one!
Maynard Okereke, science communicator and entrepreneur, explains how he is able to merge hip hop & science! In addition, he shares some information about what goes on behind-the-scenes on Shark Tank!
However, what resonated with me the most, is how Maynard refused to settle for an unfulfilling career. He took a leap of faith in search for a career that better aligned with his interests & values.

Critical Thinking - Victor Scotti, Jr.
Victor Scotti Jr. holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Pennsylvania and worked at Google for 7 years. He is now pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors by developing Moving Mountains - an accelerometer program which aims to accelerate the self-efficacy of black boys by providing professional experience, job shadowing, mentorship, and socio-emotional support.
Our conversation was very candid and wide-ranging. In addition to his academic & professional accomplishments, Victor spoke candidly about his personal journey, a journey which includes the support of loving parents and the guidance of mentors. However, it also includes navigating through racial stereotypes as well as identifying & stepping into his true self in order to live his best life. I greatly enjoyed this conversation and I hope you do as well. Relevant episode links are available here: www.codeswitch.io/victor. -
