Tipping Our Cap to America’s Hat

Zero gravity classrooms are the new frontier of teaching…

Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon as they unravel the controversy of teachers hitting the recording studio. Can educators drop bars without dropping standards? With Elon Musk and Spaceforce, teaching in space is just around the corner, so how will zero gravity affect how we teach? Finally Canada is amazing, and our hosts discuss their trip to the great white north.

Some educators have decided to trade lesson plans for lyric sheets, even to the point of putting their students into their music videos! Are these jams purely educational, or are these teachers just looking for background singers? We're going to have a freestyle debate that'll have you nodding your head to the rhythm of education reform.

On top of that, our hosts float a thought-provoking question past us – could zero gravity be the classroom of tomorrow? Would kids be able to stay in their seats? Could you imagine how fun recess would be? And would snack time lead to a crumb covered fiasco? Either way we think living out our childhood dream of being an astronaut would be worth all the messes we’d have to clean up.

We also take a trip up north where we discuss all our favorite things about our neighbors up north - Canada. From poutine to hockey we all know the classic things Canada is famous for, but why is nobody talking about this exchange rate? With it Americans get essentially a 30% discount on anything in Canada, so we were spending money like Rockefeller!

So grab your poutine and tell Houston to cut down on the chatter so you can listen to this week’s episode of Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers!

Promposals That Cost More Than a Used Car!!!

Promposals That Cost More Than a Used Car!!!

They told Jesus no sandals allowed at prom…

Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon where they take a walk down memory lane and discuss prom – a night of glitz, glamor, and... crippling expenses? From the corsage to the limo, there are so many hidden costs in prom, and they're breaking down some of the craziest ones. They also couldn't help but notice that the dress code for prom is so ridiculous, that even the parents would be dress-coded.

Prom could cost these students a small fortune, you wouldn't believe how high these price tags get! We don't know about you guys, but if our promposal cost as much as a 1999 Toyota Corolla, they would just get a Happy Meal and a ride in our brand new 1999 Toyota Corolla.

By the way - tux rentals, can we get a 2 nights for 1 deal!? We can’t afford to do BOTH prom and graduation with these numbers. Don’t get us started with the ridiculous dress code guidelines. Are students really being celebrated, or are they actually being suppressed by these out-of-date traditions?

So put on your corsage, check your coat at the door, don’t you dare bring your flask and tune in to this week’s episode of Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers!

Throw your hands in the air for math and therapy!

Throw your hands in the air for math and therapy!

Teachers caught throwing hands over what!?

Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold, James Yon where they break the first rule of fight club and maybe throw some hands? Don’t miss our tips on improving your math skills by listening to your favorite Drake album!

Devin slows down and makes us take a hard look at the knuckle dusters sneaking in our hallways — yes, you heard that right — teachers thrown into the ring of actual physical confrontations, sometimes with other teachers! Have an ice pack ready.

We've also got the scoop on a teacher “mixing it up” with a new learning strategy — could your next math class come with a beat? Devin might step back into the classroom just to dust off the old turntables and help our students boost grades - and beat stress with our sick beats. #Bars

Educators sometimes are just very *unlucky*, wait until you hear about a teacher's lottery win in the form of loan forgiveness, who would have thought that in only four minutes a teacher could make their debt disappear? Algebra-cadabra!

Curious who ended up in the teacher's lounge with black eye? And what's this four-minute miracle for wiping out loans? Tune in to this week’s episode of Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers to find out!

Grad Bash Gone Wild! Teachers Beware!

Grad Bash Gone Wild! Teachers Beware!

No Fast Passes needed for this ride of teacher stress.....
Welcome back to Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon as they ask if it’s a good idea to date around the teachers lounge, and reminisce about their Grad Bash theme park shenanigans.
Whenever that chaperone signup sheet turns up to go to Universal to celebrate our seniors graduation, GET OUT OF OUR WAY! We are always the first ones to sign up (which is pretty easy when you’re the one printing it out). From riding the Incredible Hulk rollercoaster with no line to the free food (a slight step up from our cafeteria food), we probably look forward to Grad Bash more than the students do.
Speaking of end-of-the-year events.... some teachers take loving the lesson plan to a whole new level. Finding a date to prom is a little bit harder for teachers, so some of them choose to go with each other; so this week we ask - are they looking for love in all the wrong places?
So keep your arms and feet in the vehicle at all times, por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas, and enjoy this emotional rollercoaster on this week’s episode of Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers.

Welcome back to Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon where we ask the annual question: they’re tossin’ caps, but are they ready for what comes next? From finding the quad to how to sign up for the right classes, we explore what it means to get ready for college.

Can teachers survive senioritis? Between early alarms, a lack of interest from students, and demanding admin, it's no wonder that the last stretch takes a lot out of you.

By the way… is school starting too early or are we getting older? It definitely doesn’t align with adolescent science. A snooze button on the morning bell could be the MVP of academia. Asking for a friend….

So get ready to struggle through that senioritis, avoid getting hit by a rogue graduation cap, and tune in to this week’s episode of Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers.

Welcome back to Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon as we explore what solar eclipses have to do with the controversial teacher union challenges sweeping Florida.

Hold onto your seat (and your calculators) as we shine a light on the latest astronomical event that's captivating classrooms. Maybe a little too much….

Let’s reminisce on the good old days where technology surprised us less, we take a moment to appreciate the forgotten awe of the calculator. From spelling words upside-down to hiding the test answers behind its cover. We bring it all the way back.

Did you know that NASA has reached out to local teachers? They’re not recruiting but asking them to incorporate more of the solar eclipse into the classroom. Don’t stare right into the unpaid overtime.

So don’t drop your calculator, grab your approved solar filter glasses - not the ones you grabbed from Wish - and tune in to this week’s episode of Crying in my Car, a podcast for teachers.

So relatable

Usually awesome

I generally really enjoy this show, but please be careful how you talk about issues you don’t have experience with. Allergies in particular shouldn’t ever be joked about, since you’re adding to a culture that believes that people are faking it or diminishing their life-threatening allergies. A lot of kids and adults with allergies are bullied about it, and joking about it as if it’s a preference isn’t in line with the high quality comedy I normally hear on this show.

It’s ok

I like it but it is not very relaxing and it dose not help me learn
