Surprising Reasons You Need A New Dishwasher

Surprising Reasons You Need A New Dishwasher

If your dishwasher is more than eight years old, a new one might use 15 percent less electricity and 20 percent less water, making it cost less to run.
And new ones are more effective when it comes to tackling dirty dishes, because many come equipped with soil sensors.
Soil sensors work by automatically adjusting the wash cycle depending on how much grime is detected on dishes.
With soil sensors, you’ll need to resist the urge to pre-rinse your dishes. Instead, just scrape off the large bits of food into the garbage.
Pre-rinsing tricks the dishwasher into thinking your dishes are cleaner than they are, and that could cut the cycle short, leaving your dishes not so clean.
Manufacturers have also addressed another consumer gripe: wet dishes. They’ve come up with a bunch of ways to get them drier. One fix is to have the door automatically open to release steam and speed up evaporation.
Some of the latest dishwashers have a wireless connection. So you can find out via an app whether your dishwasher has a leak, needs more rinse aid, or has some other problem.
BONUS - load your dishwasher properly!!!

How You Can Save On Your Pet's Vet Bills

How You Can Save On Your Pet's Vet Bills

Just like humans, your pet needs care from a medical professional.
However, trips to the vet can get expensive as pet insurance isn't nearly as common as medical insurance for people.
You should never skip out on check-ups or emergency visits to save money, as that will just cause harm to your four-legged friend. But there are several things you can do to save some money on your veterinary bills.
    Keep Up with Check-ups
    Ask About Discounts
    Consider Insurance and Payment Plans
    Tap into Community Services

Get Helpful Info From Online Reviews

Get Helpful Info From Online Reviews

User reviews help us decide what to buy, where to eat and even what doctor to see.
Unfortunately, many online reviews are fakes.
Fakespot, which rates ratings, says at least 1 in 3 reviews at Amazon, TripAdvisor, Sephora and Walmart are unreliable.
All major sites screen for phonies, but many still get through, says Rob Gross, Fakespot's chief operating officer.
So how can you find a real gem? Don't look for an overall five-star rating and call it a day. Here are my top tips for using user reviews.
AmazonTo judge the honesty of individual reviews on Amazon (or on any site), give more credence to reviews that address both pluses and minuses, not gushy ones or flat-out pans.
TripAdvisorRead the most recent reviews on this travel site first, since hotels may be great one month and terrible the next due to, say, a noisy renovation.
YelpReview the reviewers! On this site, which rates a wide range of businesses, click on reviewers’ names to examine their profiles. Red flags include large numbers of five-star reviews, especially in multiple states, and suspiciously repetitive or vague language.
Best Buy, Sephora, Walmart and other retail websitesFirst, sort by the most recent reviews, since product formulas and features often change. And never rely solely on overall ratings to make a decision.
Angie's ListUse this site for home-service businesses as a starting point, not the final word.

    Nutritional Superfoods

    Nutritional Superfoods

If you’re ready to get a better health boost out of your next shopping trip, you might be wondering which fruits and vegetables provide the most bang for your buck.
There are several categories of produce that you should try to grab on each trip to the supermarket. Make sure that you have at least one representative from each group in your basket, and try to eat something from each group every day.
BERRIES Particularly important for heart and bone health.
RED, YELLOW AND ORANGE PRODUCE Fruit or vegetable, it doesn’t matter: Pick what you like most from this color family.
CITRUS Add a bag or two of fiber-rich citrus fruit, such as oranges, grapefruit, clementines or tangerines.
GRAPES AND TREE FRUITS A container of mixed red, purple and green grapes will give you a nice variety of compounds called polyphenols, which may decrease inflammation and prevent cancer formation.
STARCHES It’s OK to add starches such as butternut squash, legumes, white potatoes and corn, but watch your portion sizes.
FLAVORFUL ROOTS Unlike potatoes and other starchy root vegetables, these roots—including fresh garlic, leeks, scallions and onions—are low in calories, and they contain compounds called alliums, which have been linked to improved overall heart health and decreased cancer risk.
CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES Think broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, red and green cabbage, collard greens and kale.
