FMG in conversation with Anna "La Chocha" Margarita Albelo on @stationstation (La Station, Gare des mines, Paris).

Anna "La Chocha" Margarita Albelo is a Cuban-American writer, director, and producer, with 25 years of professional experience in film and nightlife.
When Anna moved to Paris in the early 90s she founded the lesbian night "Ladies Room" which has become a legendary treasure in the history of Parisian queer nightlife.
While Anna "La Chocha" had become quite a recognizeable figure through her work in the Paris experimental performance and danceclub scene, it is her film-making that has put her on the map internationally. Over the course of her career, Anna’s body of work has been screened in over 150 international festivals. Her storytelling weaves narrative, documentary, and comedic elements into a unique story-telling style that has become her trademark. LA Weekly calls her work, “Riveting” and IndieWire spotlighted her as a “Filmmaker to watch!”
Faire Mauvais Genre was lucky to speak with Anna days after a retrospective of her work was featured at the french film festival CINEFFABLE, which is the longest running international lesbian and feminist film festival.
