Dr. Nicole Truesdell is an anthropologist by training and an abolitionist scholar and teacher in practice. Dr. Truesdell’s previous experience includes being an administrator and faculty member at Brown University and Beloit College, working with students who are underserved and underrepresented in higher education. At Brown, she founded the Institute for Transformative Practice, which housed 7 student-focused identity centers and worked to create collaborative, cooperative, and coalition-based programming and research around collective liberation.

She is focused on the intersections of faith and culture, offering new forums for faith engagement and theological imaginations via Radical Theology and post-theistic thought. Dr. Allycin Powell-Hicks hosts the Discovery+ and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network series “Like Mother, Like Daughter.” She is a Mental Health/Relationship Expert, television personality, and founder of the DOUX Consulting Group. Dr. Ally holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology with a particular interest in branding, cultivating happiness and empathy, and how perception transforms experience and empowerment through creativity. 

Dr. Allycin joins me to discuss the intricate issues facing American Black families under Christian fundamentalism.
