253: “How Do I Get Him to Try Harder?”

253: “How Do I Get Him to Try Harder?”

Theresa says, “I feel like I’m his lowest priority”. Even though the guy she’s dating long-distance says all the right things, he is constantly busy and now she feels like an obligation to him rather than someone he’s excited to see. “He doesn’t want to lose me”, she says, “but he doesn’t want to try either”.

In this episode, Matt and Audrey talk about how to handle this on-the-fence situation, when someone says they want to see you but isn’t able or truly willing to fulfil your needs, and whether you should date someone who is too busy to make you their priority right now.

(Rewind): 4 Dangerous Reasons You Fall In Love Too Fast

(Rewind): 4 Dangerous Reasons You Fall In Love Too Fast

Joe met Lisa on a trip to the Bahamas.
He saw her sipping a cocktail and asked her what she was drinking. (It was a Mai Tai.) He ordered a Whisky Sour.
Then it was on to talking all night. They kissed, they danced, and he told her after a few days that he had never met anyone like her.
Now Lisa had a weird feeling: “Uh-oh, I’ve fallen for this guy…”
She thought about him every day when she got home, remembering that perfect moment on the boat trip when he took her hand and pulled her tight to him.
But then... he never called…(I know, it’s horrible, right?)
The truth is, this often happens because of some very simple mistakes we make when it comes to falling in love.
In this week’s rewind episode, I’ll show you how to avoid them...

KimSC23 ,

Thank you for your life-changing Angel work, Matthew & team!

I first discovered Matthew when he was on Red Table Talk. Since then I’ve listened to most of the Love Life podcast episodes, tuned into Matthew’s interviews on other podcasts (Jay Shetty, Lewis Howes, etc.), read Get The Guy, attended many Love Life webinars and trainings, and just finished reading Love Life.

I wanted to share that the book resonated so deeply with me. The wisdom of your words made my heart swell to the point that I felt it explode in my chest, resulting in an overflow of tears. Not out of sadness, but it’s just the reaction one has when one is confronted with the awe-inspiring beauty of The Truth. Your concepts, metaphors, and topics covered in your work (e.g., finding a builder, the relay race, happy enough, F-U confidence, Stephen’s invest & test, fireworks, standards, self-compassion, self-love/being “My Human/Person”, 4 stages in a relationship, grief, peace & progress, the parallel to Chopped, creating magic, scarcity/abundance mindset, etc.) were life-changing for me.

Diving into your work has literally changed the trajectory of my life, and reframed how I am approaching my life with intention and a hopeful heart. One profound a-ha/eureka moment I experienced from reading your most recent book was the realization that the greatest love story I’ll ever experience in my lifetime is the one with myself. I am the heroine and author in my own story. Your message is so uplifting and empowering. You’ve given me what I needed to hear as a 40+ year old single woman finding myself in a life I didn’t expect, but confident that I can make magic out of the ingredients I’ve been given.

If this is the impact you’ve had on me, the power and reach of your work are truly immeasurable given the millions of people who follow you and are part of the Love Life community. Thank you for your Angel work, and for sharing your many gifts with the world. I wish you continued success, every happiness, an abundance of love, and all of Life’s Blessings!

PS Congratulations to you and Audrey! You’ve found your co-builder in each other, and you are going transform your plot of land into magical castle grounds. What a hopeful and inspiring model you two are for us all! May your marriage be marked by lifelong friendship and a love that only continues to grow and deepen with time.

Love you guys!

Been binge listening since July and you guys are a riot! I heard one reviewer say she didn’t enjoy the chit chat at the start of the episodes, but I totally disagree! I love hearing you guys joke and tell stories. I’ve enjoyed those episodes the most and have laughed my head off at some of the things Matt has said - and the voices lol. Keep it up and we’ll keep listening and purchasing!

Hands Down The Best Podcast to Improve & Have A Healthy Love Life

I've been listening to Matt for years now and first discovered his content during lockdown. To keep this short and sweet, he has single-handedly changed me from being codependent and insecure to confident (both with myself and in love) and healthily independent but still allowing myself to feel vulnerable in love. His perspective on love and life as a whole is truly remarkable and one of a kind. You cannot find a better podcast when it comes to improving your love life (AND your life in general) than this one. Thank you Matt (and Stephen, Audrey, Jameson) for sharing your light with us. You are changing lives ❤️
