We dig deeper into the process behind the collaborations on Majulah Weekender and how they came up with their tracks over the weekend. Each pairing was meticulously handpicked to link up established producers - Jon Chua JX, J.SON, FAUXE, RIIDEM, DSML with rising artistes - Shye, Jean Seizure, BGourd, Elsa Mickalya and Hairi Eyes. Together, they will pen down about the triumphs and struggles they have encountered during the Circuit Breaker.

DSML x Jean Seizure: Refunding 2020
The fifth weekender duo: indie producer, DSML and Artiste, Jean Seizure worked together for the first time to create a track that resulted in the completion of “Refund 2020”. The track was written from Jean's perspective of the really crappy year that everyone has also experienced much akin to relationships of a love hate nature. In a similar lane, DMSL wanted to recreate an effect of sluggishness that he felt throughout the Circuit Breaker period.

FAUXE x SHYE: More Than Just Noise
The fourth weekender duo: renowned indie producer, FAUXE and electronic teen star, Shye worked together for the first time to create a track that resulted in the completion of “More”. “More” is a creation by 2 progressive generations of Indie-Electronic musicians. It takes on themes of loneliness that Shye has been shadowed by during the circuit breaker period, with Shye’s feelings of a deserted beach, FAUXE fills it up with eccentric blend of complex layers and melodies.

RIIDEM x Elsa Mickayla: Starting Over
The third weekender duo: producer RIIDEM and artiste Elsa Mickayla worked together for the first time to create a track that resulted in the completion of “Start Over”. Recognized for his hip-hop productions, RIIDEM and Elsa started their first day with a chill R&B bop but after a night of deliberation, they scrapped their first near completed demo and start working on something more hopeful and brighter. "Start Over" is uplifting with a positive outlook on whatever that is going on all around the world.
