    Doug Doucet, President and Founder at Doucet Developments chats about the expansion and development of Commercial Real estate in Halifax. He speaks to his experience of researching and building an Irish pub in Cape Breton, and talks about his love for retail and desire to create a unique, authentic space.
    Ben Young President & CEO at Southwest Properties, brings his enthusiasm for Halifax as a city, and describes the changes he's seen over the years. Ben expresses his optimism for a more efficient city once development and government work in collaboration to strengthen Halifax as a city, for its growing population.
    Heather Ferguson is the Executive Director at BOMA, NBPEI. Heather talks about the networking and support opportunities available with BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), for building owners/managers seeking best practices around navigating a post pandemic industry. Heather expresses her appreciation for the many local developers in Atlantic Canada and is hopeful for the Building and Land Development industry.
    James and Alec speak to a couple more conference attendees, including Kenzie McDonald of Colliers International, Cory Bell of Lindsay Construction and Jenna Miller of Cushman and Wakefield, who all deliver and build on the undeniable confidence and optimism of real estate professionals in Halifax and Atlantic Canada!

    Matthew Gorman is Counsel in Cox & Palmer’s Halifax office,  with extensive experience within the entertainment, intellectual property, and digital rights space, where he advises performers, songwriters, producers, managers, record labels, and more. Matthew is an elected member of Music Nova Scotia’s Board of Directors, a frequent writer, lecturer and speaker on music-related legal issues at conferences and events all over the country, and is a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers. Matt also operates Ocean Town Music, which provides business advisory and management services to music and entertainment clients.
    In this conversation, Matthew shares his journey, all the way from traditional legal work to founding his own music management company, Ocean Town Music. Matt provides an inside look at representing artists, negotiating record deals, and finding new talent. He explains the ups and downs of being an independent manager and how he balances his legal practice with his passion project. Matt also gives aspiring entertainment lawyers advice on standing out at conferences and leveraging social media.
    At the top of the show, James and Alec dive into the absurdity that is the cost of living in Nova Scotia, and where our living wage falls in comparison to other provinces in Canada.  They discuss how much rent costs have increased in the past few years and their personal experiences with renting in various locations.  James and Alec Cranston also call out the bad drivers of Halifax, particularly since the pandemic.
