Morning Glory is a podcast created to encourage and engage the community of Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church.
Mark and Kurt share stories and interesting facts about cartoons. And as usual, Kurt makes Mark nervous with a challenging quiz.
Be encouraged by Hebrews 11:6,
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
Mark and Kurt share facts and stories about headlines and the news. They also share personal testimonies of how Bible verses impacted their lives and acted as "headline" verses for specific seasons of their lives.
Be encouraged by 2 Corinthians 12:9-10,
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
And Philippians 4:6-7,
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Mark and Kurt talk about morning routines and open the curtain to their own morning habits.
Be encouraged by the story of Daniel and his routine of prayer found in Daniel 6:10,
"Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."
Mark and Kurt discuss all things breakfast. Additionally, Kurt quizzes Mark on breakfast trivia including questions with an international flavour.
Be encouraged by Jesus' words to the Samaritan woman at the well from John 4:13-14, 34,
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work."
Kurt and Mark discuss the popular morning drink, coffee. Kurt quizzes Mark on abstract coffee trivia and the answers may surprise you!
Be encouraged from 1 Corinthians 15:19-22,
"If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."
Mark and Kurt talk about the cool, calm winds of the morning and discuss examples of God commanding the winds for his purposes in the Bible.
Be encouraged by the story of Jesus calming the storm and his words to his disciples in Mark 4:35-41,
"He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm."
Lighthearted and encouraging
I’ve enjoyed these episodes- cool facts, great give-and-take, and a word bringing us back to the author of it all.
