    Daniel 2 and 3: Honor God Above All Else

    Daniel 2 and 3: Honor God Above All Else

    Scripture clearly states that if we will honor God, He will honor us.  Daniel and his three friends are a great case study regarding this promise. Because Daniel honored God in chapter 1, he was given the opportunity to be God’s voice in chapter 2. Because Daniel’s three friends honored God, they were given the opportunity to declare His faithfulness to the world in chapter 3. Today we are being asked to honor God above all else. Is that something you are willing to do no matter the cost?  Join us in Mount Vernon as we explore Daniel chapter 2 and 3 and listen for God’s voice as to how we can honor Him.

    Scripture: Daniel 2; Daniel 3; 1 Samuel 2:30; Deuteronomy 6:13; Proverbs 9:10; Revelation 14:6-7

    Worship God No Matter the Situation

    Worship God No Matter the Situation

    The debate or conflict between true and false worship is as old as the world itself. Some may even say it is older than that. In Daniel, we see the issue of worship played out in the life of one young man and his three friends. This role-play is expanded to include the whole earth and even the heavens. Worship is foundational to our relationship with God. Are the issues of yesteryear confined to the archives of time or do they play themselves out in the everyday of our current existence?

    Scripture: Psalm 95:6-7, Daniel 1:1-21, Luke 4:8

    Gotta Get to Jesus

    Gotta Get to Jesus

    Jesus had compassion on humanity! Over and over again, scripture records that Jesus was moved with compassion and worked on behalf of humanity because of it. People all over the place picked up on that and had to get themselves for others to Jesus. What about you and me? Are we filled with so much compassion for humanity that we work on behalf of the hurting? Do people see so much Jesus in you and me that they Gotta Get to Jesus?

    Scripture: Matthew 9:35-38, Matthew 14:14, Matthew 15:32, Luke 7:13, Luke 6:32-36. Matthew 4:23-35, Matthew 8:4, Mark 2:1-4, Mark 5:21-34, Luke 18:35-43, Ezekiel 47

    Jesus is My Superhero

    Jesus is My Superhero

    Marvel Universe has produced over 30 movies that have brought in over 25 billion dollars at the box office. Why are we so fascinated with superheroes? Is it because they are strong, courageous, have superpowers, and are willing to save the world? Or perhaps becausae they are always selfless and ready to lay down their own lives to protect other people? The truth is, these Marvel characters aren’t real and only exist for our entertainment. The real Superhero came to this world 2,000 years ago and defeated sin and the enemy of souls by laying down his life. Jesus is the greatest Superhero in that He not only died on our behalf, but He has the power to overcome death.

    Scripture: 2 Peter 3:9; John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8;
