Ep 643 - Holes, by Louis Sachar
Holes! We all need 'em, we all love 'em. This is a book where a boy is sentenced to dig a bunch of holes out in the desert because he was accused and convicted of a crime he didn't commit.

Ep 642 - Last Night at the Telegraph Club, by Malinda Lo
Lo's award-winning novel seeks to shine a light on marginalized experiences from mid-century San Francisco. What's most impressive is how she's synthesized all of her research into a couple of fresh, compelling characters - allowing the story to honor the historical record without feeling overly bound by it.
Our theme music was composed by Nick Lerangis.

Funny, witty, overall 10/10
Currently my fave podcast! Super easy to listen to, entertaining and feel like you’re listening to your friends debate your fave (or least fave) books. I am currently listening through the episodes of the books I’ve already read/ know the plot of and loving it! My coworkers keep saying they see me smirking at my desk and it’s 100% me listening to this podcast trying to not laugh out loud at certain sections. Highly recommend!
It was disappointing . Cannot tap zero stars.
I am Colombian and wanted to listen something sophisticated, as Gabo won the Nobel prize of literature, not a gift. Anyways, I found people just making fun of everything. Laughing at our culture, names. Not research how to pronounce names and cities and well. It sounded like a parody o comedy show instead. Not refined content. I am going to keep looking… good luck with the unprofessionalism.
Not for me.
I personally did not like this podcast. I love the concept and want to read many of the books they cover, but I just can’t stand yet another podcast voiced by men who use upspeak and sound like they spend too much time on twitter or something. It feels like everything is ‘woke’ these days, even when not explicitly stated as such… so tired of it. On top of that, it’s just weak, unfunny commentary and I didn’t feel it offered much in understanding the book and the issues in it. What it did offer was undermined by the delivery. Felt a bit like listening in on a couple of college kids.
