    Sawbones: Willy Wonka

There are different versions of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory exploits, but all of them involve strange things happening to children who misbehave. But from a biological standpoint, what does that look like? Dr. Sydnee and Justin discuss the strange science going on at Wonka's factory and whether gum could possibly contain enough juice to turn someone into a blueberry.

Note: Willy Wonka is the creation of Roald Dahl, not a good person. More information about his antisemitism available here: https://time.com/5937507/roald-dahl-anti-semitism/

This show gives me faith in this world

I started listening to Sawbones when the pandemic started to keep me sane when I was dealing with all the misinformation about Covid and the vaccines. Granted I started at the beginning and I’m so glad I did because it was a lighthearted and captivating look into historical practices that I found hilarious and interesting. I worked my way to the pandemic episodes near the end of the pandemic and honestly I was too exhausted to listen to a lot of those episodes but I have listened to all but 78 episodes so far - old and new. I will get to the harder episodes but it is so difficult to hear the stupid things we are doing even now. However I’m so grateful for this show because it is shedding light on modern malpractice and concerns that is so informative and helpful. Keep up this much needed work!!

The best! Sydney is my goddess! And of course you Justin, lol.

I agree with Justin. This is the best podcast on the internet, because I feel like that is true.
I’m in healthcare and listen to this in the way to and from work. Gives me so much joy and it puts me on a good footing for work, and on the way home, it brings me back down to the ground and makes me laugh and destress.
