SHADES OF MURDER Alita

During the late 1800s into the beginning of the 20th Century, the greater area of Boston, MA was plagued by a young female serial killer. Countless murders of the elderly and the sick were disguised as natural deaths. The perpetrator could have continued their murder spree for decades had her killings not become so personal. This is the story of Boston’s “Jolly Jane” Toppan whose claim, if true, makes her the most prolific serial killer in American History.

In March 2005, a young child disappeared along a desolated road in Nithari Village, India. Then another child and another until over thirty children had vanished in less than two years. Desperate pleas by parents to help find their missing children were ignored by the local police. Then in one of the wealthiest suburbs of Noida, the most gruesome and heartbreaking discovery was made.

On March 28th, 2020, twenty-year-old Mary Santina Collins went missing after she took an Uber to NoDA, the art and entertainment district of Charlotte, N.C. What began as a fun night with her friends would end in a blood bath. Investigators never believed her family who knew she was in danger until days later when police discovered the mattress.

Once known as the Murder Capital of the world, the picturesque beach County of Santa Cruz, CA was terrorized by not one but two serial killers between 1972 and 1973. Edmund Emil Kemper III and Herbert William Mullin were behind some of the most grotesque and brutal slayings in criminal history, and sometimes their victims were even murdered within miles and days of one another. It was the only time that two serial killers were active at the same time in the same place. This is the story of their crimes, their victims, and how their killings forever impacted criminology.
