Propaganda
It’s hard to defend the Chinese government so most people who do it for a living do not come off sounding very intelligent or reliable. Points aren’t really made here. It’s full of anecdotes meant to direct your opinion. Host jumps to another subject before sharing an original idea or an opinion At one point he says, (I’m paraphrasing) « not believing the whistleblowers was something the ccp was criticized for …. Well, overall China did a good job of controlling it. » this is his style. First, ccp was not only criticized for not believing but also for actively concealing The info and punishing the whistleblowers! Second, no evidence is provided about the « good job » and that would not negate the whistleblower issue anyways! Nothing very interesting here and I feel strongly the only people who will like it are those looking for (mainly anecdotal) evidence that backs up their world view of China good USA bad. Additionally he has a fairly strong accent and if there are scripts they could really use proofreading
Great guy trying to add a different perspective
Carl Zha is a great guy who is trying to mix things up with respect to the commentary out there on China stuff. If you liked CLASH (RIP 🙃) you’ll enjoy this. I don’t always agree with Carl but I’ve never found that to be a problem in discussing things with him online.
