The Idle Book Club 23: Silence

Shusako Endo's Silence is a classic of modern Japanese literature, a reflection on faith and humanity that is sweeping and ambitious as well as intensely personal. Varied and enjoyable views on modern literature

Transparency, I'm an English Major who more or less stopped reading recreationally for several years. This podcast led me to dive back in and my life has most certainly be enriched as a result. Being well-aware of the predispositions of the primary podcasters thanks to their video-game podcast helps, but the range of different works and the amount of enthusiasm conveyed should make this interesting to anyone. I definitely find myself disagreeing with some of the opinions found herein, but that allows a level of discourse in the listener community that I've also found valuable. Occasionally I wish the conversations went on even longer, but I suppose that's a good problem to have.
