When human rights activist Karima Baloch is found drowned off the shores of Toronto, an investigation into her mysterious death leads all the way back to Pakistan, the country she had recently fled.
In this six-part series, host Mary Lynk explores the rampant abductions and killings of dissidents in Pakistan, the dangers that follow those who flee to the West, and a terrifying intelligence agency with tentacles around the globe. How did Karima die? And would Pakistan really carry out an assassination far beyond its borders? This is a story that a powerful state doesn’t want you to know.

The Hit List
This podcast is so amazingly put together. Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this amazing group of people. The strength and courage they have shown while standing up against Pakistan’s government has left me speechless. This is the BEST and saddest podcast I have listened to. Thank you!
Let down by the ending
I can’t help but feel thrown off by the structure of this podcast. Why save hard evidence regarding someone’s death for the final episode, and devote the 5 previous episodes to conjecture pertaining to their final moments, going so far to have a former diplomat emphatically say the police weren’t thorough enough in their investigation? Especially when the findings in the last episode contradict those claims. Why wouldn’t obtaining the police report be the first course of action?
This was a great listen: disturbing, gripping, and what’s more it felt important. I just can’t help but feel that the way Mary Lynk chose to tell Karima’s story, and the order in which she investigates was ultimately misguided. Also falls into the trap you see in a lot of true crime podcasts where the author inserts themselves and how they’ve been affected into the narrative, which I feel is missing the point.
