    161. Taking a Step Back To Inspire My Art and YouTube Channel

This week, Richie and I chat about why it can be helpful to revisit previous art styles or processes in your art practice or business. This idea emerged as I've rediscovered and fallen back in love with the playful style of art from my very first online class, The Melting Pot.

We also discuss the challenges we've faced in defining a style and approach for our YouTube channel and why we're returning to simple, short videos like we used to share when we first got started.

We hope you enjoy the episode! Remember, the creative path is anything but linear—it's okay to shed things that aren't serving you well and return to something that you loved or something that was working well and maybe didn't need to be changed in the first place!

    159. Nostalgic Musings: Rediscovering the Joy of Being an Artist

Is it nostalgia? Maybe I've got those rose-tinted glasses on again. Do you ever get the feeling that being an artist was more enjoyable before? Is all this pressure to do more and be on multiple social media platforms accumulating, taking away the joy of making art? Join me and Richie as we delve into these questions and explore how I am combating these feelings by immersing myself in my studio and 'painting it out.' If you've been feeling weary lately, we hope this episode gives you a little comfort and encouragement to keep showing up and making art. It's more important than ever!

P.S. The paintings I mention in this episode are now available in my online shop.

KS Retreat ,

Hurray! You’re back

So wonderful to hear your voices again! Great podcast and am looking forward to watching some of the videos on YouTube. Thanks for your amazing insights. All the very best for 2024!

ArchiPam ,

Thank Goodness for this Podcast!

Hello Laura and Ritchie! I came across your art on instagram a few months ago and you both have been everything I’ve needed in an art buddy! Since I found out about you, I have bought all of your classes and then magically as soon as I had gobbled them all up, you created the Creative Blend Course! I signed up for the year without hesitation! I also discovered your Vlogs and this Podcast which I listen to daily. I have worked my way backwards an am now on episode 60. I’m hoping you decide to podcast again (just before I run out of podcasts, lol!) because you are both so good at it and you share such valuable information. As well, you both are the calm in my day and my inspiration to keep going with my creative journey. I also love the all encompassing nature of your podcasts, including your personal life. It helps us see where and how life weaves with an art practice. Thank you for both sharing this personal side of you. I too am just buying a new house after 17 years in my current home and loved your podcasts on that! You are both an artist’s best friend <3 THANK YOU!

Love your podcasts!

Laura and Ritchie I love all your podcasts. I absolutely love the ones when you talk about topics that aren’t specifically art related but more about the ways you embrace self care. Keep the great shows and show notes coming!
