    Hobbies and Side Hustles

    Hobbies and Side Hustles

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We're about 2 months overdue with this, but time isn't linear and you know what clock we run on (CPT).

Things we discuss in this episode:

    - Drag

    - What constitutes as a hobby (in our differing opinions)

    - Traveling in the midst of a pandemic

    - Social Media Etiquette

Apologies in advance for the sound quality, we're looking into investing into a proper set up so that we can bring you these laughs in high definition. If you liked this episode, be sure to rate it and send it to someone who would also enjoy it.

    Pets

Vegan or not? There is so much noise around pets and whether or not pet ownership is vegan. As usual, we do not provide a clear cut answer to this question because the discussion around companion animals is complex so you'll have to listen to the episode in full to get our opinions on the topic.

If you liked this episode, remember to share it with a friend or in your social media networks. You can tag us @goatsandoatspodcast on instagram. We can't wait to connect with you and hear your thoughts on this episode.

    Happy Halloween!

    Earthlings

    Earthlings

In this episode Jay and Zipporah discuss the infamous vegan documentary that is earthlings. In doing so, we begin to understand the waywardness that is yt veganism and why many yt folk are influenced to go vegan after watching these kinds of documentaries that so boldly compare the exploitation of non human animals to that of Black and Jewish people during Slavery and the Holocaust respectively.

If you haven't watched the documentary, we invite you to do so before or after listening to the documentary so that you can more accurately understand and clock the instances of anti-Blackness, colourblindness, and anti-semitism first hand as they may be subtle to those of you who are just beginning to decolonize your veganism.

    Eating Disorders

TW: throwing up, bulimia and other eating disorders

Update since posting this episode: A&W has since released their plant based nuggets. Go ahead and try them out! We also discuss

In this episode we discuss the intersections between eating disorders and veganism as two people who have recovered from.

    We explore the following topics:

How a strict whole food plant based diet often promotes orthorexic eating patterns
How eating plant based in 2021 is a lot different than in 2001 (resources, inspo, alternatives, costs thereof and accessibility thereto)
How taglines such as “All food is good food” push people to think that if you're not eating the “real thing” you’re doing something wrong in recovery, when in reality plant based foods are just sourced differently, they're not any less authentic or real
How listening to your hunger cues can be complicated and sometimes impossible when taking ADHD medication for example of while smoking and how those can also be used to restrict
Tips for going vegan with an eating disorder (anchoring yourself in your why, transitioning slowly, swapping foods instead of cutting them out, and being consistent in the swaps you make)

Brilliant

If you’re looking for passionate, intelligent conversations that honour the intersectionality of social justice (that will make you laugh and think) you’ve come to the right place!

Best of both worlds

It seems the options are, typically: social justice which neglects speciesism or white veganism which avoids social justice. So nice to have the best of both worlds!
