The Power of You is a guide navigating to your next job. Each week career coach Win Sheffield delivers comprehensive, brief answers to your questions about the realities of the 21st Century job market. When all we want to do is restore the stability of a steady income, it is easy to overlook the subtleties of the job market. Even a when transition is relatively quick then there are often more productive and effective ways to approach the market.

This podcast (microcast) is designed to remove unnecessary difficulties dealing with the job market. By providing insight into the ways we need to work and clarifying our role in the job market, we can make the whole process much more positive. My goal is to make the whole process as painless as possible and to understand and deal with any pain and keep our morale and confidence high.

In this microcast Win responds to the questions that are holding you back from the success you are seeking. Topics from interviewing to resumes to how to network, what to write in your letters, how to keep up your morale to negotiating your pay package and planning your first 100 days are covered.

The Power of You is so named in keeping with one of its key principles: that employers are seeking more than employees who are skilled. Often ability to do the job is a secondary consideration to hiring an employee who is enthusiastic about the work to be done. An employee who is eager to do the job will weather the twists and turns of work life much better than one who is merely skilled. This active approach, empowering you to be in charge of your campaign, has many implications for how we, as job seekers, need to approach employers and the job market in general.

Win Sheffield resides in New York City where he has been working with clients and by video and telephone with clients in Europe and the Americas on their career direction and strategies since 2013. Win has run workshops in New York, Mountain View and London for industry and alumni groups in addition to his regular series at the New York Public Library.

Before becoming a career coach Win worked for Citibank, J.P. Morgan and PricewaterhouseCoopers in strategy development and management consulting. He has an M.B.A. from Boston University and an undergraduate degree from Kenyon College. He has studied counseling at General Seminary and Myers-Briggs at the Jung Institute.
