Between ourselves and others, there is a space. Sometimes that space is too small for certain topics. The space can be stretched and even be broken. But sometimes you meet another person with a shared spirit. And the space between is big enough for almost anything.

Friends. Brothers. Fellow Jesus Followers. Doug and Nick choose topics that are of interest regarding various areas, but especially around spirituality, and simply dialogue about them. They think differently and have differing opinions - which makes the conversation fantastic.

Synopsis: The Underground Bunker was alive with conversation regarding where we are in our spiritual lives. On a previous episode Nick mentioned that he was not a Universalist and Doug mentioned that perhaps he was a Buddhist. And although this particular episode was on our upcoming roster we felt that this may one the appropriate time to jump in. We encourage you to consider where you might be in your own Spiritual Journey ... how would you describe your influences and your particular theological understandings?

    All Falls Down

    All Falls Down

Synopsis: For hours the underground bunker was full of conversation regarding deconstruction, stories, analogies and more. And that was before the "record" button was ever hit. On this episode the guys discuss what deconstruction is, why it might be important, share some stories, some word pictures and their thoughts on the importance of making sure that construction is a part of the process. They give some tips on what might be helpful if you are in the process of deconstruction now and invite ongoing dialogue on the Facebook page.

    Infected

    Infected

Synopsis: This morning the guys come to you from deep in the underground studio where they're far from the public in order to talk about COVID-19. Specifically, what role does the church need to play in this pandemic. The conversation includes perspectives from a pastor (Nick) and from a health care worker (Doug) about our social responsibility, social needs and how we can get creative. There are no real answers here ... just honest and open dialogue about where we are today in this historical moment.

Update (3/21/20) - Doug would like to make it clear that while he referenced a 3-4 month window for a vaccine he really meant that would be the window for trials to begin and for a person to enter a trial for treatment.

Questioning Evangelicalism: inerrancy, original sin, atonement and political ties

Questioning Evangelicalism: inerrancy, original sin, atonement and political ties

Synopsis: On this episode of The Space Between the guys go head to head with some specific Evangelical beliefs: inerrancy of scripture, original sin theology, penal substitutionary atonement theory and the Evangelical community's political ties. With the help of an alarm that keeps them to 14 minutes per topic - the conversation is fast and a lot of ground is covered. Due to the simple fact that it is possible to feel the rug pulled out from under you regarding these topics, Nick and Doug commit to begin a Facebook group where further conversation can be had.

Sort of...we're really just talking about some of our conclusions and the perplexities of life but we do end up tugging at the edges of this question. This episode finishes our three part series on Death, Birth and Life. Doug and Nick bring unique perspectives to this conversation that discusses a spiritual understanding of life, the sacredness of life, forgiveness, and the beauty of waiting.
