Kinda sad that I have now caught up!
I started reading WoT around June 2023 and it was fantastic being able to read the same chapter(s) covered by Dani and Brett immediately afterwards. They often provided clarification on things that confused me and I have absolutely loved Dani’s predictions. Some I had made myself, some I disagreed with, but I think she was right more often than me. Now I’m right at the end of the book they have just finished, Knife of Dreams. And there’s no way I’m going to be able to stick with only reading the chapters Dani is allowed to read (clearly since I’ve read 11 books + New Spring in 6 months). But I’ll still keep listening of course even if I’m racing ahead in the books. This is an excellent podcast for first time readers though I suspect it would be equally entertaining and informative for re-readers. Once I’ve read the last 3, I’m also excited to be able to explore other content that I’m avoiding right now because of spoilers. I am in awe of Brett’s ability to avoid spoilers throughout this podcast.
The Best Companion to a WoT Readthrough
I began reading the wheel of Time series in December 2021. Falling in love with the series immediately, I began talking to a friend who I also knew was reading the series. He told me about this podcast and I began listening during my reading of book four. Since then I’ve listened to almost every episode as I worked my way through the series. Dani and Brett do an amazing job of providing entertaining informative and interesting discussions around a chapter 2 of the series each week. Brett, being the Wheel of Time expert, does an amazing job of asking thought-provoking questions while we’re meeting spoiler free. Dani, as a first time reader does a great job of providing wildly baseless speculation, and I love every single moment of it. It is so helpful to have two additional perspectives as I read through this massive series to refresh my memory of all the different plot threads, provide insight on the Lore and History of Randland, and make me excited to keep reading. As I begin my read through of book 9 I’m sad to say that I’ve almost caught up with all the episodes. But I know that I’ll return to this podcast over the next months and years as they continue to provide this amazing content. Sidenote, Brett, my favourite part of the podcast is your fun facts. Even the ones where you just talk about how long it takes ice to freeze. Keep it up.
Awesome content
This podcast brought me back to the books in a big way! I gave up on the series twenty years ago in the middle of Book 9. Now this podcast has helped reintroduce me to the stories, and I’m rereading along with the podcast. It’s amazing. The two hosts are a great team with one first time reader and one longtime reader, and they have a great casual banter while also delving deep into the source material. Best of all: no spoilers. An awesome hardworking team bringing great WoT content to the world for FREE. How are you not already subscribed to this podcast???
