During that time Josh held positions as a fieldtraining officer, firearms instructor, active shooter instructor, academyinstructor, K-9 handler, and K-9 instructor. Josh’...

Episode #39 Rodney Spicer Gold Coast K9 "Perseverance"

We had a great conversation with Rodney Spicer of Gold Coast K9. Rodney shared how he became interested in working dogs in the 1980's. He also shared his insights into puppy and working dog selection. Rodney's transparency about his meager beginnings is refreshing. The theme that stands out is perseverance. We know that you'll enjoy what he has to say and most definitely will be inspired by his story. Be looking for a part two with Rodney Sr and Rodney Jr. G...

Episode #37 Mike Lilley "Holding the dog accountable in tracking"

Caught up with Mike Lilley for an interview. Unfortunately, Rich was having some technical difficulties and could not join us. We will be rectifying this by the next episode. I believe you will find Mike's methods to be innovative and sound. The proof is always in the pudding. His name is more and more becoming synonymous with solid tracking. He's just one of the more humble, pleasant, talented men in the business. Hope you enjoy this one as much as we did. There's a lot of information to unp...

Excellent Format - A new bar has been set!

First of all congratulations on your new endeavours! Howard, it’s long overdue. Glad you finally stopped procrastinating and got it together. Enjoyed getting the background on both of you and how you got together. Great comments on being a police officer first and a dog handler second. Any seasoned K9 handler knows that a dog is never a replacement for tactics, but it is a tool that can both enhance tactics or as you eloquently stated, be a hindrance to tactics. Well said. Finally, the best part for me is it is refreshing to hear a podcast where it was PG all the way through, and not a hint of egos. From that perspective it was a true pleasure to listen to that format. Thank you for setting the bar. Let’s hope that the guests who follow, can meet that same standard. It truly made it a pleasure. Good luck to you both. Looking forward to what you will achieve in your new endeavours. Most importantly, know that you are making a positive difference in the industry. That is worth every minute.
