Amazing resource & enjoyable listen! Best theory pod in my bools

I love this podcast!! I initially discovered the Theory & Philosophy youtube channel after looking to strengthen my understanding of concepts I encountered in my undergrad sociology studies. It quickly became a regular listen— David’s clear explanations and conversational style keep things engaging and approachable.
It feels like one of your really smart friends is telling you about ideas they are passionate about and find interesting…. No condescension, no languishing in masturbatory ivory tower language, and not a snoozefest like some even very well meaning theory lectures can be (although if academia doesn’t work out I think David could make it big in the ASMR world).
Big thanks to david from my cats and I (they are regular listeners with me) for creating this amazing resource and sharing ideas that I otherwise would not have had the time or academic chops/background to immerse myself in. You’ve broadened my world and inspired me to persuade graduate studies, I really can’t thank you enough 💛

Hobbes's Leviathan

Thomas Hobbes's dictatorial indoctrination assumes a tyrannical command that humanity surrender to only his god. I dismiss these delusional ideas. Hobbes's views are a threat to reason, science, & good sense. Common Law vs Commonwealth Law can be expressed in this way: a monarch rules you or Thomas Paine's "Common Sense". Then there is the French Solution: off with their heads, starting with Hobbes.

Casual Conversation

I’m enjoying David’s podcasts. He organizes and paces his talks very nicely. However, what is most impressive is his ability to connect to an audience through a warm and conversational approach to difficult material. David demonstrates a good command of analysis that strikes a balance between important detail and an overall interpretation. He provokes thought and interest.
