Thanks for the education
As a non American I did not fully grasp the long history that led to January 6. Sure I recognized the sound bites of McCarthyism, the John Birch society etc. but had never put the whole arc of history together. Thank you mr meacham for doing just that.
Good series but could be better
I sympathize with Meacham’s perspective and he speaks and writes with considerable authority. The series is well crafted but oddly, I find the general thesis stated in ep. 1 rather poorly articulated. The Republicans — or as Americans like to say “the right” — are surely a dangerous threat to US democracy but are they simply a “gloomier” prospect? Rather a weak central claim that wouldn’t pass muster in a university history paper.
Fate of fact.
I love listening to Jon Machum and reading all his books. He is a straight arrow, but tells a truth that too many refuse to grasp. He inspires me and I am looking forward to his next podcast and his next book. Thank you My Meacham.
