A mysterious pandemic wiped out most of humanity 20 years ago and we’ve been living an illusion ever since. Y2K REDUX revisits the Year 2000 through the microphones of the Canadian shortwave station Toonie Radio as the apocalypse unfolds.
This is an audio drama series by Pilgrim Falcon Productions. The first three episodes were produced with the financial support of the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund.
New Millennium’s Eve
Episode 1. The Toronto shortwave station Toonie Radio broadcasts a special show on December 31, 1999 to receive the year 2000 and keep the audience updated on the massive celebrations in Canada and around the world. The host Luke Marlowe shares about his childhood dreams and expectations for the 21stcentury. Luke also talks to other Toonie Radio colleagues reporting from the field, such as Roxie Gibson, a New Age specialist visiting the Teotihuacan pyramids in Mexico. They all discuss the possibilities of chaos derived from the Millennium Bug and even apocalyptic threats. The episode proceeds almost in real time as we listen to the broadcast until midnight.
