8 - Cognitive Distortions: Labeling and Jumping to Conclusions

Labeling is a cognitive distortion where we place labels on ourselves or on others. It can be destructive when the labels are negative. Jumping to Conclusions happens when we feel that we have enough information about ourselves or others to make a decision when, in fact, we do not.

The Positive Empowerment Initiative is a non-profit organization that seeks to help people overcome the challenges of their lives. It seeks to reduce suicide rates and improve overall mental health.

They also discuss the distortion of Mental Filtering. In this distortion, we automatically generate a list inside our minds of all the times bad things happened to us or when we screwed up. These distortions can cause major issues for us if we do not do things to help ourselves deal with them.
