It delivers lessons and learnings on recovery from anxiety illness - taken from the book I Am Anxiety - which are designed to help you break the anxiety cycle. The cycle that keeps so many people stuck in a never ending loop of worry and fear.

The book - a finalist in the Readers Favourite 2019 Book Awards - provides a step-by-step guide to anxiety recovery.

At the age of 33, following a period of significant stress at home and in work, David developed Generalised Anxiety Disorder. He remained in the grips of anxiety for a number of years which led to unemployment, despair, hopelessness - and a trip to the emergency ward. Determined to find the joy in life again, David spent time learning about his condition and how it affects the mind and body. By acquiring this knowledge, and using it to break the anxiety cycle, he was able to fully recover.

The I Am Anxiety Podcast takes the key messages from his book and turns each into an entertaining and engaging conversation - delivered in an easy to follow, authentic style.

    In episode 5 David continues to apply his recovery steps to individual anxiety symptoms.  Focussing on insomnia, he explains the physiology of this common symptom and illustrates how this knowledge can be used in a practical way to bring a level of acceptance to what may otherwise seem unacceptable. David shows how this attitude of acceptance enables us to remove ourselves from insomnia's grip and begin breaking the cycle of fear that keeps us trapped in anxiety illness.

    In episode 4 David begins to apply the recovery steps to individual anxiety symptoms.  Beginning with Brain Fog, he breaks down the physiology of the symptom then explains how this knowledge can be used to begin removing the fear.  David shows how gaining a better understanding of why we experience Brain Fog, allows us to remove ourselves from its grip and begin breaking the cycle of worry and fear that keeps us trapped in anxiety illness.

    In episode 3, David illustrates how the knowledge of anxiety physiology shared in episodes 1 and 2 can be used to better understand and follow psychological recovery steps.  He discusses the two steps to recovery he followed during his own recovery and starts to break down step one.
    Step one focusses on taking the fear out of our symptoms so we can reduce the quantity of 'I’m in danger' messages our amygdala receives.

    In episode 2, David discusses the three parts of the brain involved in the development of anxiety illness.  He outlines how changes to these parts of the brain - initiated by the stress hormone cortisol - can slowly lead us into the never ending cycle of worry and fear that ultimately leads to anxiety illness.
    This knowledge is important because once we understand why we have become trapped  -physiologically speaking - we can then begin to understand how we free ourselves.
