International Diamonds Day and National Diamonds Day 15th April

International Diamonds Day and National Diamonds Day 15th April

INTERNATIONAL DIAMONDS DAY AND NATIONAL DIAMONDS DAY

It’s said that the earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. It’s also said that Diamonds became a very valuable commodity in the 1800s when European women started wearing it, at all important social events.

Women and men have cherished diamonds or diamond jewelry not only in India but globally, be it for a proposal ring, engagement ceremony, wedding or anniversary. Not just this how can we forget occasions like valentines day, mothers or father day only to name a few. Diamonds have always been an integral part and purchasing jewelry is considered auspicious in India on festival like Dhanteras, Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya and many more. I believe it may be the same internationally for the festivals that are celebrated in those countries.

Have you ever thought why are diamonds gifted on these occasions? Diamonds are a rare and precious gift from mother earth found below the earths crust. Did you know that it takes almost 10 tonnes of ore to mine a 1-carat polished diamond? That’s how precious they are making them rare and special. This feeling of rarity evokes emotions making diamond jewellery so special for almost every occasion.

Royal families are known for their opulent choices. Be it the Kohinoor, the hope diamond, The Dresden Green or any that they have possessed, diamonds have always held an emotional significance and value. Celebrities love flaunting their rocks on the red carpet that tend to become global trends. The concept of diamond engagement rings may have become popular after 1947 when a known mining company’s advertising campaign created a trend.

Wondering why I am saying this which most of you may already know?
All of the above that I have just said got me thinking that if we can celebrate occasions and festivals on a particular day in the year then why isn’t there a day that celebrates diamonds nationally and internationally on a particular day?

Now, you may be wondering why celebrate diamonds on one day when we can celebrate diamonds everyday? Here’s a food for thought. We celebrate occasions like valentines day, mothers day, a proposal, engagement or wedding one particular day despite sharing emotions with the same person almost everyday. Its only a way to express our emotions and gratitude, then why not the same for diamonds which is rare, a precious possession that evokes emotions. Do you agree with me? Is there a reason someone may have not thought of this?

When I researched online, there wasn’t any specific or concrete information about celebrating diamonds day nationally or internationally. Another thought that I would like to share. Diamond is the birthstone for the month of April. Coincidentally it is also my birthstone as I am born on 15th April.

Being a India's first jewellery influencer and diamond influencer, 15th April 2021 onwards and every year on this date, I would like to celebrate diamonds in India and Internationally. I don’t know who will be listening to this podcast, however in my own way I would like 15th April to be celebrated as International Diamonds Day and National Diamonds Day.

    Poem 1 | Saugaat

    Poem 1 | Saugaat

Saugaat (meaning gift) is a poem where a woman expresses her emotions for a man.

I had penned in July 2020, during the unprecedented covid lockdown in India. Never thought that my manifestation will some day help me record this and film it too. The video is available on @styleprer on my You Tube channel.
Do comment and let me know what you think of it.

Since the poem is in Hindi, below is the translation in English.

    Hindi & English Translation:

Sone jaisa hai woh sunhera, (He shines like gold)
Aankhon ki chamak hai heere si, (His eyes twinkle like diamonds)
Muskurade toh karodo gir pade, (Millions get mesmerized when he smiles)
Andaaz hai hi kuch aisa is nafz ka, (Thats the charisma of his soul)

Har pal tarasha hua sa lagta hai, (Every moment looks like it’s beautifully sieved)
Uski aahat se tham sa jaata hai, (It pauses like a beat with his presence)
Shayad, sahi kehte hai woh humein, (May be its true when he says)
Kya zaroorat hai phir kisi gehne ki, (Whats the need for any jewellery)
