- “The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests hearts.”  Proverbs 17:3
 
- God sometimes puts us into the furnace for a couple of reasons:  - To proves us and To purify us.
 
- God examines your heart with trials.
 
- The Furnace of Pain:  How do you respond to pain.  Job 23:10-12
 
- The Furnace of Praise:  How do you respond to praise?   Proverbs 27:21
 
- Solomon warned you better put people’s praise of you into the furnace.  Why?
 
- The Furnace of Persecution:  How do you respond to persecution?  John 15:18-20
 
So, how do you respond to pain, praise, and persecution?

In Acts 2:  After Pentecost the early church was continually devoting themselves to four areas:
 
1.  The Apostle’s teaching (The Word of God)
2.  Fellowship
3.  The Breaking of Bread
4.  Prayer
 
- Are you in awe when you open God’s Word?
- Are you in awe as you gather in God’s house on Sunday to hear God’s Word?
- Are you in awe as you hear what God is doing in the lives of other believers?
- Are you in awe as you have the privilege to approach God in prayer?

How important was it for you to please your parents?
 
What does it mean to be pleasing? (agreeable, gratifying)
 
We are going to look at the connection between Pleasing God & Faith
 
- Hebrews 11:5-6.   Enoch
 
- Without faith, it is Impossible to please God.
 
- He who comes to God must believe:
 
1. That He is.  (Exist; to be Who He says He is)
 
2.  That He is a rewarder.  (One who pays wages)
 
- to those who seek Him.
 
- 2 Timothy 1:5.  Lois & Eunice
 
Paul speaks to young Timothy about his faith.
 
“For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.”
