This Tuesday, Uganda will sign the Product Sharing Agreements and award an exploration licence to Oranto Petroleum for the Ngassa block.

Oranto and Armour Energy will join Tullow, Total and CNOOC in Uganda.

The governments of Uganda and Equatorial Guinea have announced a new partnership. Under the agreement, the two countries will share information on government policies, regulatory structures and capacity building. As part of the arrangement Equatorial Guinea will also train teams of Ugandans in various oil related activities. The first team will be leaving for Malabo, the country’s capital city, later this month.

But is Equatorial Guinea the best example for Uganda on oil resource management?

Lots of excitement around the oil discovery in Uganda - complete with conferences in Kampala.

Uganda announced its commercial oil in 2006 and since then, the country has moved from exploration to appraisal and right now we are preparing for development and production stages.
The country spent about $3.8bn over the last decade.
