We're All Hypocrites with Tony Peterson
On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan is once again joined by Tony Peterson to discuss the nuances of deer hunting in North American. To reiterate, the guys actually have a really good and serious conversation about deer hunting strategy and rules and regulations. These two take a deep dive in to hunter personalities and how we all are pretty much self centered and are only interested in their own hunting experience. Self interest at it's finest. Public Land, Cell Cams, Shot Placement, Crossbows, and Rules and Regulations are all up for discussion on this episode.
ATTENTION: Dan and Tony at the end of the episode, still make time for their famous BS Session. ROAD HOUSE!

Skip Get's Derailed
On this episode of Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan is once again joined by Skip Sligh to talk about deer behavior. That is until Skip derails the entire episode and takes us in a couple different different directions. For those of you who have never heard Skip speak, the first thing you will notice is that he is as passionate about whitetails as they come. Although the guys do talk about deer behavior off and on in this episode, Skip also talks about habitat improvement, hunters who take more than they give back, and his thoughts on how baiting is ruining the quality of hunting is certain states.

Strategy Deep Dive
Over the past couple seasons Dan has struggled to locate a shooter buck on his main farm. On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan talks with Nate Roseveld from the Michigan Wild Podcast about locating big bucks on properties that have been cold over the last seasons. With a similar experience in past seasons, Nate shares his thoughts on what happens when a good property dries up and the big buck seem to disappear. The guys discuss crop rotation, how deer respond to livestock, trail camera data, and access routes on small properties. This is an excellent episode full of knowledge, strategy, and good old fashioned BS.

Spirit Of My Father
On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Travis Coulter of Kentucky shares a story about his father and a big velvet buck. The underlying topic of this episode is alcoholism and how it destroyed the life of a fellow hunter. Travis talks about going hunting with his father when he was a youngster until his drinking got so bad that his uncle had to step in and put him under his wing. Both Travis's uncle and father played their role building an outdoor foundation for Travis. Fast forward to 2019, alcohol finally caught up with his father and he suffered a major heart attack he was unable to recover from. The next year Travis bought a farm. And under a huge oak tree in the middle of an open field, Travis placed his fathers ashes along with a wooden cross.
2021 came and Travis decided to place an extension ladder in that oak tree that he planned to saddle hunt out of. On opening day, September 5th, Travis connected on a big velvet buck from that tree. He's convinced his father was there the whole time and helped him seal the deal on this buck!
