My 2021 K-Beauty Favourites
Goodbye 2021 and hello 2022! Time for a new The K-Beauty Podcast episode, where I chat about my most beloved Korean beauty products of the past year - my 2021 K-beauty favourites!
I rambled on quite a bit in the beginning, first giving a bit of a life update and my thoughts on 2021, the pandemic, the state of the "skinfluencer" world, etc. If you don't want to hear my rambles, skip to 22:08
Also NOTE: I completely skipped over my serums and ampoules for some reason - I HAD marked them down in my notes but then apparently overlooked them while recording and went straight to mists. The three serums and ampoules I loved best in 2021 are:

Let's Have a Chill K-Beauty Catch Up
I decided on a spontaneous, non-scripted, flow-y kind of K-beauty catch up for today, which hopefully will lead to both me and you getting at least a momentary break from all the upheavals of the world. Mostly, I just want to hang out with you guys and discuss all the Korean beauty products that I've been loving lately, and those currently on my wish list.
Because this was a very unscripted recording, I got a bit off topic in the beginning, sharing how I felt after both covid vaccine doses and just what's been going on in my life these past weeks. So, skip ahead to about 16:04 for the actual K-beauty content - first, I give a little update on the Korean sunscreen scandal, and then - finally! - dive into my favourite Korean beauty products on my vanity right now and my current Korean skincare wish list top 10!

Traum!
Ich bin unendlich glücklich darüber, diesen einzigartigen K-Beauty Podcast gefunden zu haben.
Ulrike (Sugarpeaches) hat eine besondere Begeisterung für koreanische Skincare und alle damit verbundenen Themen, was mit jeder Folge deutlich wird. Gleichzeitig schwappt ihre Begeisterung oftmals auf einen selbst über. Immer wieder bin ich auch begeistert, wie sie Inhalte und Informationen auf eine intelligente und gleichzeitig kritische Art vermittelt. Insbesondere in Deutschland ist Hautpflege mit einer gewissen Oberflächlichkeit verbunden, zudem gibt es sämtliche andere Klischees und Vorurteile; diese nimmt Ulrike jedoch allesamt auseinander. Sie eignet sich auch nicht asiatische Kulturen an, sondern pflegt einen kritischen Umgang damit und informiert immer über den Kontext von bestimmten Skincare-Phänomenen. Besonders froh bin ich auch über ihren offenen Umgang mit Depression. Es ist faszinierend zu realisieren, dass Skincare auch eine Möglichkeit darstellt, um das Leben mit Depression ein wenig zu erleichtern.
Ich habe den größten Respekt vor Ulrike, zumal sie diesen Podcast momentan eher noch als „Hobby“ führt. Umso dankbarer bin ich für jede einzelne Folge. Einerseits schockiert es mich, dass ihr Blog nicht schon explodiert ist und sie über die finanziellen Mittel verfügt, um Vollzeit-Bloggerin zu sein, andererseits bin ich zuversichtlich, dass sie auf dem Weg dorthin ist. Ich bin dankbar, dabei sein zu dürfen. Also: EXTREM empfehlenswert! :)))

An interesting, yet entertaining Podcast around the topic „Korean Skinscare“. It‘s made with love from Ulrike, a german skincare-lover and blogger who lived in New Zealand for a couple of years and therefore does her podcast in english. I usually listen to it on my way to university.
From current trends in skincare to the „mystic“ 10-step Korean Skincare Routine - in her podcast she gives interesting facts about k-beauty, shares her honest opinion to products (likes and dislikes) and brands and also addresses psychological and philosophical issues. Sometimes, she teases the Germans a little bit, e.g. because of their love for official seals in cosmetics (I‘m german myself and often feel like she caught me - yeaah, seals are great! 😂).
I like that one can really tell how passionate Ulrike is about skincare and how she makes me excited about trying out new things, without ever sounding like she wants to „sell“ the products she mentions. E.g. I’ve never used sheet masks until she mentioned it regularly - and I was very impressed how good they are!
I really recommend this podcast for people who are interested in skincare, korea or other beauty in general.
Ein interessanter und unterhaltsamer Podcast rund ums Thema „Koreanische Hautpflege“. Der Podcast wird von Ulrike, einer deutschen Bloggerin und absolutem Hautpflege-Fan, die eine Weile in Neuseeland gelebt hat und deshalb ihren Podcast in Englisch macht. Ich persönlich finde ihr Englisch auch super verständlich, denn sie spricht nicht zu schnell.
Von aktuellen Trends bis hin zu den nahezu „mystischen“ und aus 10 Schritten bestehenden koreanischen Hautpflege-Routine erklärt sie interessante Themen zu K-Beauty und teilt ihre ehrliche Meinung zu verschiedensten Produkten und Marken. Ab und an macht sie auch einen Schwenker zu psychologischen und philosophischen Themen, z.B. bezüglich Selfcare, dem „Glass Skin“ Trend oder Naturkosmetik. Man merkt Ulrike ihre Begeisterung für koreanische Kosmetik richtig an und sie macht mir häufig Lust darauf, neue Produkte auszuprobieren ohne dass ich allerdings das Gefühl habe, dass sie etwas „verkaufen“ will. Beispielsweise habe ich vorher nie Tuchmasken ausprobiert - aber sie schwärmt regelmäßig davon und tatsächlich war ich hinterher sehr beeindruckt von der Wirkung!
Daher kann ich den Podcast allen Hauptpflege-Liebhabern und Beauty-Interessierten nur empfehlen - und natürlich allen Koreafans da draußen. Übrigens auch zum Auffrischen von eigenen Englischkenntnissen geeignet... 😉
