Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist is wrapped up its freshman season on Sunday with a finale that was very big on tears and full of music that went on. Mitch is GONE. In fact, the episode’s final act was a seven-minute musical number shot in one continuous take as the camera weaved through Mitch’s wake. The impressive “American Pie” performance, featuring the show’s entire cast, capped an emotional season ender, in which Zoey said a heartbreaking goodbye to her father… and potentially opened her heart to BFF Max, whom she finally kissed. Simon is there but more like a friend not a love interest. Can't wait for the 2nd season!

Zoey has to figure out a clever way to help her mother with an impossible decision of what to do when her dad dies and she connects with her Deb (Hello Bernadette Peters). Max unexpectedly bonds with Leif as they work together on the 6th floor. Max and Zoey finally talk it out and see eye to eye. Mo hits a rough patch with Eddie, and sings to him but doesn’t want Zoey analyzing it pushing her to eventually talk to Max.

When Max makes the official move to the sixth floor, Joan and Ava both claim the boy is theirs in an epic musical dance-off. However, Joan and her team suffer a major blow when Max chooses to remain with Ava and her team, taking his efforts on the latest The Chirp project with him. As tensions ride high at the work, Simon and Zoey come to terms with their grief as the two pursue a relationship following the news of Simon and Jessica’s separation. This all leads to Zoey having an outburst of her own with the potential of losing Max at work and her father at home, as his condition continues to worsen. Meanwhile Joan tries to navigate her relationship with Leif as he begins to catch feelings beyond what the two had agreed upon.

Zoey tries to help Mitch's caregiver, Howie, reconnect with his estranged daughter who is deaf, and there is a beautiful ASL rendition of Rachel Platten's "Fight Song." Max must make a decision about his future at SPRQ Point when he gets recruited by the mysterious 6th floor. Jessica and Simon share a heartbreaking dance number with so much sadness. We will have to wait and see.

After receiving heartbreaking news, Zoey suffers a mysterious "glitch" in her powers. She has to sing to her two potential loves Max and Simon ending in awkwardness all around. Hopefully her powers will come back the right way. And she admits her love to Simon very awkwardly and they share an inappropriate kiss. And at the end of the episode she goes to Mitch, her dying father.

Tobin and Leif are not seeing eye-to-eye as Tobin prepares for an annual celebration of their friendship while Leif bails on the festivities to focus on a new work project. When Max declares his love for Zoey, she finally reveals her powers to him. Max doesn’t believe Zoey at first, but Zoey finally comes clean about knowing about Max’s true feelings. This is enough to convince Max that Zoey isn’t crazy, however it does leave a seemingly unrepairable strain on their friendship. Meanwhile Maggie struggles to find a home nurse for Mitch, but finally finds someone who knows the perfect balance between her husband’s personal wants and medical needs. Tobin and Leif make amends, and Leif potentially starts up a romance with Joan!
