Electric vehicles in the UK with Jake Harrison Beyond the numbers

    • Business

The world is warming up, the ice caps are set to melt, and sea levels could rise dramatically the scientists warn us. The car has in the past been seen as a symbol of freedom, however this liberty has come at a cost to the environment. The reason being light duty and heavy duty vehicles make up most of the carbon dioxide emissions.

Many blame capitalism for how it feeds consumer demand and potentially reckless consumption. However, it's capitalism that could hold the innovation and solutions to the environmental problems. All electric vehicles could for example be a significant contributor to helping reduce the discharge of carbon from petrol and diesel engines.

The good news for business owners is full electric cars are becoming a viable alternative to the traditional internal combustion engine. This means businesses can now select from a range of cost effective UK electric cars as alternatives to their existing fleets.

In this episode of 'Beyond the Numbers', Jake Harrison of HelloEV joins Chris Thompson to discuss why it's time to consider an electric company car:

- The business opportunities presented by electric cars
- How the running costs compare favourably
- The practicalities and benefits of battery power cells
- The infrastructure developments to support electric vehicles (EVs)

Ultimately it appears it's only a matter of time before we approach the turning point that is the mass adoption of EVs. Of note, this episode was recorded in October 2019, shortly after the climate strikes and UN's climate action summit.
