Walk Boldly With Jesus Catherine Duggan

Today’s witness is a friend, Bruce & his wife, Alice, whom I met through email back in November of 2023. The Holy Spirit led Bruce to my podcast, and as he listened, he heard the call for people to share their stories, and he decided to do a Witness Wednesday. His first witness is episode #619. If you haven’t heard it, I invite you to listen to it today. It is really good. Bruce has made a career for the past thirty years as a head scenic artist, art director, and designer in the professional theatre business. For the past five years, he has also had a studio on James St. N., where he produced his own artwork. He is known and loved by many in the community for his work teaching the PMC art class for over a decade, as well as a more recent class for seniors at the YWCA.
In the first witness, Bruce talks about how he lost his sight sort of gradually, and then he went to a healing service and was healed. However, in the morning, he could no longer see again. After hearing his witness, I asked Bruce if I could pray over him. He said yes, and I called him and his wife and prayed with them. His sight was not restored, but he felt encouraged by the Lord. I continued to pray for Bruce, and we kept in touch. Several months later, while talking to the Lord, I felt like the Lord told me it was time to pray for Bruce again. Today's witness is about that encounter.
We have all seen God working in our lives. Joshua 3:13 “When the soles of the feet of the priests carrying the ark of the Lord, the Lord of the whole earth, touch the waters of the Jordan, it will cease to flow; the water flowing down from upstream will halt in a single heap.” Today's episode reminds us that miracles do happen. They happen more than we think, and they can happen to anyone. They are not just for a select few people. They are not just for the holiest people; they are for everyone who asks, seeks, and believes. If you are in need of a miracle, ask for it!

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Today's episode talks about the difference between the Holy Spirit of the Old Testament and the Holy Spirit of the New Testament. It also reminds us that we all have the Holy Spirit living inside of us and can all ask the Lord for the gifts the Holy Spirit wants to give us.

Today, I felt led to start with this poem I read the other day by John Roedel because it beautifully demonstrates that we don’t always understand what God is doing. We think we are a mess, we feel like we are falling apart, we feel like God has abandoned us, and yet God is ALWAYS right there in the middle of it all! He knows exactly what He is doing and wants us to trust Him in the process. This poem gives us some insight into that process. I feel it makes it a little easier to trust when we have a bit of understanding. This conversation is between someone and God.

Proverbs 8:34-35 “If you wait at wisdom’s doorway, longing to hear a word for every day, joy will break forth within you as you listen for what I’ll say. For the fountain of life pours into you every time that you find me, and this is the secret of growing in the delight and the favor of the Lord.” Today's episode explains how God highlights things for us sometimes. It talks about the call God has for all of us to come closer to Him and to ask Him for wisdom before we go elsewhere. It explains that the secret of growing in the delight and the favor of the Lord is to seek His wisdom.

Today’s witness is another friend from the Big Life mentoring group with Pamela Crim. Laura has been through a lot over the years, including several unhealthy relationships in her search for love. She lived with a lot of shame for many years. Finally, someone she loved pointed her to the Big Life Devotional podcast by Pamela Crim. She started listening and then joined mentoring. She went on retreat where Pamela baptized her in the ocean and her faith was renewed. Listen to her testimony, and you will see how God transformed her life. He can do the same for yours. Just keep turning back. It’s ok if your path isn’t perfect. Just keep getting back on the road to salvation. Take it away, Laura.
