Episode 1 How to Clean and Disassemble Your Barbell!

    Purpose:
Cleaning a Weightlifting barbell is the make or break on someone’s lift, and the life span on the barbell itself. If you have a barbell at home that is rusted and no longer spins the way it used to then follow these simple instructions for a straight forward cleaning.

Note: These instructions are universal across any functional training barbell that can be found on online shops and but not compatible with a local stores barbells.
    Video version in link! https://youtu.be/5tNovWU2O9g
    Step 1
You must prop the barbell up to an area that is roughly hip height. This will allow you to gain any advantage needed to dissemble your barbell.

    Step 2
Once your barbell is propped up, make sure you have these items:
    - 1-2 Dry rags
    - 3in1Oil(canbefound
    at your local hardware
    store)
    - Snap ring pillars
    - Nylon Brush

    Step 3
Now it is time to get to work. Begin by grabbing your Snap Ring Pillars and Pulling out the 1st snap ring within the barbell. Place your hand on the barbell sleeve to make sure the snap ring does not spring free. Once out, place the removed snap ring in a safe and visible area.

    How to Disassemble

    Step 4
Remove your end cap by applying a quick downward press (punch) to the sleeve.

    Step 5
Remove the second (inner) snap ring from the barbell. Again, hold on to the barbell sleeve to make sure the snap ring does not fly out.

    Step 6
Place your hand underneath the end of the barbell, pull the barbell sleeve back towards the knurling (rough grip); what will come out is a full washer and two half-moon washers. Make sure to place these in order next to your snap ring, end, inner snap ring, so you will not lose them.

    Step 7
Push the barbell sleeve forward to remove the final full washer.
Once you have done that, remove the sleeve and spray the barbell itself with 3 in 1 oil and wipe down any rusted residue.
Also wipe down the inside of the barbell sleeve and spray it with the 3 in 1 oil and wipe again.

    Step 8
Once you have wiped the barbell clean of rust with the 3 in 1 oil, repeat the process but backwards by placing the sleeve back on and putting in the:
    - Full washer
    - (2) Half-moon washers
    - Full washer
    - Snap Ring
    - End Cap
    - Snap Ring

    Step 10
Repeat steps 4 through 8 on the opposite barbell sleeve.

    Step 11
With the 3 in 1 oil you can brush off any rust or chalk that is on the barbell grip with a brush to clear out any dirt, chalk, or rusted spots. This will bring your barbell looking and feeling brand new.

    Step 12
Test out your barbell by spinning the sleeves two to three times. Once everything is put back together and your area is cleaned put your barbell to the test!
