10 Steps on How To Set Boundaries Without Offending People
Are you struggling with setting your boundaries?
Do you want to know how to respectfully tell others about your boundaries?
Today, Jay questions the traditional notion that a "good person" is one who never says no. This outdated definition leads to a lack of boundaries, which ultimately harms personal well-being. By redefining what it means to be a good person, one can recognize the importance of investing in themselves and navigating difficult conversations.
What does setting boundaries truly mean? They are defined not by what we want from others, but by what we need for ourselves. Jay explains that boundaries should not aim to control others but should protect the individual from their own triggers and provides practical advice on how to communicate boundaries effectively, suggesting the use of simple, clear statements without over-explanation.
In this episode, you'll learn:
How to set boundaries without feeling guilty
How to NO effectively
How to communicate boundaries clearly
How to handle other people's reactions
How to build confidence in setting boundaries
Don't wait to reclaim your time, energy, and peace of mind—take control and become the assertive, self-respecting individual you deserve to be.

A podcast I didn’t know I really needed in my life
I discovered On Purpose this past summer while walking outside with my dog Alaska. Listening to the podcast episodes from back in the beginning has been an insightful experience and I’m actually making notes (I’ve never done this before). But the best part is — after listening to the episode about overcoming fear (the chapter from the book), I actually applied it to an issue I’ve been dealing with for the past 12 years. I have an incredible anxiety and fear of exams, and I’ve been feeling a lot of shame for not being able to finish my driving school. After 12 years of on and off studying and practicing driving, I managed to break down my fear, made a granular plan to achieve daily goals and not overwhelm myself, and today (8th of November, 2021) I’ve finally passed my exams at the age of 31! Thank you so much, Jay!
Pure Quality
Jay, you always put out quality content, no BS, no waste of the listeners time with empty words. Thank you for the effort and thank you for voicing what so many people might be feeling or thinking but don't know how to put into words to make sense of themselves and their lives.
Keeps me going
Thank you very much Jay, I love you, your wife and your amazing work. Your podcast energises me (usually I watch the Ellen’s show but now I’m very busy) I’m studying and working ( crazy stressful) and I have a mind that easily wanders. Listening to your podcast allows me to work with my hands while my mind is busy on productive and up building materials. I love all your work..... but the one with Dr Amen about brain development blew my ‘mind’. I hope to be able to visit his clinic with my brother (who has some brain issues unsolved) some day. God bless you and your family.
