Meet the Pros – Episode 10: Vang Kou Khang, MD, MBA, Internal Medicine Hospitalist

Join us during this live session to learn about a career Internal Medicine Hospitalist (Medical Doctor) with Dr. Vang Kou Khang. Vang Kou grew up with a family of famers in the Central Valley. It was through his physical labor in the tomato fields and seeing the hardships that his parents had to overcome as immigrants that motivated him to pursue higher education. During his time at Stanford, Vang Kou's knacks for the sciences and his passion to serve others led him to the field of medicine. Today he is a Hospitalist and frontline worker during this COVID Pandemic. Note from Dr. Khang: Hospitalists are the backbone of Hospital Medicine. Our line of work revolves around caring for patients while they are hospitalized; we treat infections, coordinate chemotherapy and work closely with surgeons and interventionists to insure patients get the procedures they need. We also partake in research and utilization management to improve healthcare access, quality, safety and cost to everyone.

Meet the Pros – Episode 9: Chris Lee, Cheer/Dance Choreographer & Coach

She has a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Masters in Special Education. Chris has over 15 years of experience in coaching competitive cheer and dance. She is known for her innovative choreography where she builds around each athlete's ability resulting in top-notch results. She provides specific visions, pays close attention to details, and always delivers exceptional work to her clients. Her success as both a choreographer and coach is a result of her competitive nature, precision, and self-driven attitude. Due to Chris' accomplishments as a choreographer, she has traveled across the U.S. teaching summer camps, stunts and jump technique classes, and full routines. In addition to being a successful choreographer, Chris is also a High School Special Education Teacher.

Linda attended CSU Fresno where she earned her BA in Liberal Studies and Masters in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. Of all the many hats she wears, Linda is most passionate about motherhood. She is the founder and host at Circle of Mothers, a podcast dedicated to empowering mothers. Linda is a mother of three boys; a six year old, four year old, and two month old. When she is not with her children and husband, she finds joy in reading and writing. “Teachers are not the babysitters our nation has narrated in the past years. Join us during this session to learn about a career in Information Competency Librarian with Manlia Xiong. Manlia has been working in the Library profession for more than 14 years. Half of those years are spent working at her current profession as an Information Competency Librarian with the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California. As a Librarian, she helps supervise library activities at center locations in Tulare and Hanford. In addition, she provides library instructions, develops and teach library and information courses, assists students and faculty with their information needs, selects print and non-print materials for library collections, serves on campus committees, and so much more. “Librarians of color make up a small proportion of Library information professionals. It is a rewarding job to both help students, faculty, and sometimes administrators. Librarians are informational gatekeepers. Libraries are portals to all of the world's knowledge."

Mai Vue currently works as an Emergency Response Social Worker for Sacramento County in Child Protective Services, investigating suspected child abuse and/or neglect. Mai graduated with her Masters of Social Work from Sacramento State University and obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Community and Regional Development from the University of California, Davis. Mai's prior social work experience includes assessing and linking families to early childhood resources, as well as, providing parenting education.
