Join us during this session to learn about a career in Information Competency Librarian with Manlia Xiong. Manlia has been working in the Library profession for more than 14 years. Half of those years are spent working at her current profession as an Information Competency Librarian with the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California. As a Librarian, she helps supervise library activities at center locations in Tulare and Hanford. In addition, she provides library instructions, develops and teach library and information courses, assists students and faculty with their information needs, selects print and non-print materials for library collections, serves on campus committees, and so much more. “Librarians of color make up a small proportion of Library information professionals. It is a rewarding job to both help students, faculty, and sometimes administrators. Librarians are informational gatekeepers. Libraries are portals to all of the world's knowledge."
