The All Neurotypes Office are interviews by Sam, of the All Neurotypes team. We are passionate about neurodiversity in general with a nuanced and intersectional approach. We have a particular focus on autism, psychosis, and intellectual disabilities, and interview folks with all sorts of perspectives and lived experiences. Our content ranges from interviews to parenting tutorials to descriptions of research articles, but the common thread is quality of life and healthcare (including mental healthcare!) for neurodivergent individuals.
Most interviews are by Sam, who is an autistic parent of an autistic child, an autism researcher, and a theoretical physicist by training. Despite the personal and professional connection to autism and neurodiversity, Sam views their understanding of neurodiversity (and actual implementation of it!) as a continual work in progress, and explores every interview with an open mind, eager to learn about other people's experiences. We also greatly welcome any feedback or suggestions!

Neurodivergent Employment, Resilience, and Personal Triumph
It was wonderful to have the chance to interview Navya about her experiences related to neurodiversity, employment, resilience, obtaining a diagnosis, culture, and various aspects of identity more generally. I certainly learned a lot from the interview personally and greatly appreciated hearing her perspective.
More information about Navya can be found at her website and/or her linkedin-- she said that she welcomes any questions/comments/people looking to connect!

Autism and Shame
Hello! This video is about my experience with autistic shame and some observations about why autistic individuals in general might experience more social shame. Unfortunately the audio cut out at times, but hopefully most of the video comes through okay! I'd love to learn more about this topic and hear from other's experiences if anyone is interested in sharing more.

Benefits and potential risks of autism self-diagnosis
This video is about autism self-diagnosis/self-identification. The main focus is to briefly overview research on self-diagnosed autistic individuals, to discuss what happens if self-diagnosis ends up being incorrect (e.g. if the individual actually has another form of neurodivergence), and to go through other common objections to autism self-diagnosis.
In part because of this, the video is particularly focused on the case where self-identification ends up being incorrect (or is perceived to be incorrect), as well as research assessing the accuracy of self-diagnosis via comparisons to formally diagnosed autistic individuals.

Neurodiversity and culture: creating inclusive medical care and school systems
Hello! I was excited to interview Dr. Danai Fannin recently-- she discusses her research on the medical care of neurodivergent individuals, how racial and cultural backgrounds can impact a patient's comfort in asking questions during an appointment, and how these results might be extended to create more accessible school IEP processes.
She also discusses social skills, and how to take a nuanced approach (i.e. helping autistic children understand the communication of neurotypical individuals without pushing for normalization; and also protecting autistic children from bullying or people simply pretending to be friends.)
