Happy People Happy Farm - Episode 4

Welcome to Episode  4 of the Happy People Happy Farm podcast.

In this episode, we're focussing on International Women's Day on March 8th 2022 and how the role of women in farming needs to be supported.  As World Women's Day is also about bringing attention to bias and discrimination in all areas of society, we'll be looking at ways for you to avoid discrimination against your staff in the workplace and also what to do if you are a victim of unfair bias or discrimination.

You'll hear an interview with Becky Miles who, along with a number of colleagues in the industry, set up an organisation called "Women in Dairy".  An ex-farmer, AHDB Knowledge Exchange Manager and now helping farmers with their people issues as a Senior Partner working with Real Success, Becky gives us a quick tour of why Women in Dairy was founded, how if works and why it's still important to give women a dedicated space within the industry.  Some may suggest that it's no longer necessary but Becky believes that there is still a place to encourage women with the sector to gather together, discuss issues they are facing and find support from like minded people.

In Paul's perspective, Paul briefly outlines areas of potential discrimination on your farm and how to avoid them.  It can be a minefield, so listen to this section to get some quick advice and facts.

The Happy People Happy Farms podcast features real people and real stories, designed to help you build a stronger, more sustainable and profitable farming busniess.
