Well, maybe the government didn't grow a conscious this year after all. But I'm still pretty darn grateful for all of the ways in which the world responded, and in the end perhaps that's all that matters. Especially because if you take the concept far enough, and mix in that out there somewhere is a solution for every challenge, then when you think about it there's never really been anything worth worrying about.
