Perhaps one of techno’s best kept secrets these days, London born-and-raised groove manipulator Cressida isn’t your typical merchant of quality 4x4 smack. His sound, nurtured on a variety of genres and approaches - from jungle to grime and dubstep (which he keeps on repping through his mixes), flexes a different signature than most, insanely versatile and consistently busting the frontiers between normative frameworks. Hopping on board our podcast series with a massive treat of cross-pollinated techno riddims and no-frills club rippers out the widest scope, Cressida dishes out a fierily potent two-hours of freako disco, locked-and-loaded onto hacking the boring matrix of tepid machine funk that has most subjugated at the minute. Active since the turn of the millennium, Wisconsin-born / Berlin-based DJ and producer Dustin Zahn has been trading some of the most consistently powerful techno blends over the past twenty years. Incisive and empowering, his sound epitomizes the perfect balance between strenuous, big-room-focussed wares and an acute sensibility for the sharpest sound design. Throughout an endless flow of grade-A heaters for some of the scene's most highly-regarded imprints, including Blueprint, Rekids and his own record label, Enemy, Zahn has been sculpting a body of work both ebulliently intense and future-facing, never quite resting on his laurels but throwing all of his nerve and energy into staying relevant in the age of disposability. Ageless, boundless.  

Born in Sweden but operating out of Berlin, Philippa Pacho has been making waves in the scene as of late, notably amassing a stream of incendiary performances at some of the world’s finest (and most demanding) clubs, including Bassiani and Fuse. Herald of a fast-paced, no-surrender type of DJing, all eyes set on bringing crowds to a simmer thru and thru, Philippa muscles her way across various techno sub-genres and rhythms with conviction and poise, alternatively pushing classic Detroit-influenced material, Nordic minimalism and more Continental European-informed expressions, as she harnesses the very best of these through uncompromising selections with a pristine mixing technique. Bosnian-born, Sweden-based producer and jockey Sev Dah has been carving a niche truly personal and distinctive into techno’s growingly standardized on and off-stage realm. Boss of his own imprint, Proletarijat, with releases for Mote-Evolver, Random Island or K S R under his belt, Sev has been pushing wares both entrancingly hi-NRG (a nod to the early Schranz heroes) and ruggedly abrasive. The result is an effervescing mishmash of rabid uptempo drives, screwed melodies and fiery rhythmic grids, ready to leave all ravers knocked askew.  

Inbound with a mental two-hour ride down the darker end of the techno spectrum, Berlin’s Roseen makes his debut in the RYC podcast series with a hair-raising smorgasbord of industrial-informed grooves and no-prisoner, 909-fuelled pound. All in on the heavy-duty, warehouse-busting ordnance, Roseen treats us to a cavalcade of true school Detroit-derived tempi and brutalist fractals, leaving no stone unturned in his quest for the beat that haunts and rips. Enter a spooky dystopia in sound, where untamed functionalism rubs shoulders with hypnotic abandon and depth-plumbing adventurism. Full blast.
