    Recently I saw a funny video on Youtube. It was titled “Basketball Awareness Test”





    There is a team wearing white, and a team wearing black. You are instructed to count how many passes do the white team make.



    After the correct answer is revealed the narrator asks, “but have you seen the moonwalking bear?”



    And the shocker is, while the viewer was focused on the white team, he didn’t see the moonwalking bear.



    Now, since I have already mentioned “invisible moonwalking bear” on the title, I have warned you to look for it. And I may have spoiled the surprise for you. But this is called “selective attention” in psychology.



    I’ll embed 2 more videos I like from YouTube, without spoiling them, to see how much you may be susceptible to selective attention.







    The fact is, most people, when their attention is focused on one specific thing, they miss many other things which are staring them right in the face.



    That’s all fun and good, you say. But what does it have to do with marketing?



    Well, the thing is, most business owners focus so much on the daily operations of their business, they miss a lot of marketing opportunities which look at them right in their faces.



    That’s the value of hiring a marketing expert to look at your marketing systems and give you feedback.     Many people in the online marketing world have what I like to call lottery mentality. Get rich quick. Push a magic button, make millions. Make a mega-launch and earn millions of dollars, and never have to work again.

    It sounds good, but it is more hyperbole than truth.

    First, many of the “overnight success” you see, is based on years, if not decades of hard work.

    Second, even if you do become lucky and make a windfall of cash, if you have not built the skills, the relationships, the assets over time, it is not sustainable. You never know if you can ever repeat the same success.

    It is like the story of the hare vs tortoise. Slow and steady wins the race.

    Daily, consistent habits are not glamorous. And at first, it sounds like tedious work. But over time, results grow exponentially.

    Here are 3 habits that Dan Kennedy used to build his own business, when he was new, 40+ years ago. Doing these things consistently over a long period of time is what made him the living legend he is today.

    3 ways to use voice over to promote your online business

    Use voice over to make videos

    Videos are everywhere online these days. %85 of online traffic is video. 500 hours of video content is uploaded to YouTube every minute. Videos are more attraction grabbing, and people consume, share and interact with videos more than any other content type.

    Videos are not just for free content on your blog or social media either. Video ads on facebook and youtube attract attention and clicks better than anything else.

    Don’t forget the increasing demand for online learning and tutorials either. Most people learn much better when they watch a video, compared to only reading text.

    Of course there is more to video than voice over. But for simple screen recording type of videos, voice over is the most important component. When you have text and the voice over, you can make video.

    2) Convert your blog posts and articles to podcasts

    Many people listen to music and podcasts while they drive, exercise, or run errands. Podcasts have mostly replaced radio. Popular podcast directories like itunes, spotify and others have millions of regular users.

    One thing about audio content is, there is less distractions compared to being in front of a screen. You don’t have 23 tabs open and 17 pop up notifications trying to grab your attention. So podcasts can be very effective to reach some markets.

    3) Use voice over to create audio ads

    The same reasons that makes audio content and podcasts effective, are also the reasons that make audio ads effective. No distractions, you have direct access to the ears of your target market.

    All the popular podcast directories also have paid advertising options. If you rather spend some money on audio ads than time to create audio content, this may also be a very effective way to reach your target audience.

    I'm back with good news. Missed me?

    I'm back with good news. Missed me?

    I’m sorry I didn’t send an email or published content for more than two weeks.

    But I wasn’t exactly a couch bum resting in those weeks. Therefore I have some good and exciting news.

    First, I had a client that asked me for help with a content marketing and social media strategy. I can not share the full details here, but through our discussions, I think we came up with a pretty solid strategy. A strategy that can help anyone position themselves as an expert in say, 6 months, and start making a full time income. And potentially, in 2-5 years, positioning as a world-class expert, a 7-figure biz.

    I’ll talk a lot about this content marketing and social media strategy, in the future.

    Second thing is, I’m seriously learning more about videos. Especially, explainer white board and cartoon style animated videos. Such videos are possibly among the most engaging content types online. And there are so many benefits to using them.

    Now, my baseline content will still be voice over screen recordings like this. However it is a very good idea to also include fun and engaging videos with your other content.

    So you can also expect me to talk much more about video and audio content in the future too.

    Also, I have been going through Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula… Even the free information he gives away during those launches make my head spin with ideas. I have so many ideas about launching products and services in the upcoming months now. I’m so excited, just by watching his videos.

    One thing is for certain: I’ll keep publishing content daily, and will keep growing my list, and connecting with my community. That is the foundation of all my other plans.

    HOW COVID-1984 AND PHONE SUPPORT HELL CAN MAKE YOU MORE MOOLLAH?

    A couple weeks ago I had a problem with the automated customer support phone line of my bank.



    I called my bank’s phone number as usual. But they changed something in the automation. I couldn’t do what I needed to do. Whatever option I picked and chose, I was in a never ending circle. I could never get to talk to anyone from bank staff.



    It was an annoying experience for more than hour.



    Now don’t get me wrong, my problem with the bank has been resolved. It was a minor problem in the grand scheme of things.



    But during those couple weeks, I was talking to several friends of mine. And almost all of them had a story about “customer support hell” or two.



    One couln’d get a refund for a cancelled flight, from one of those “find cheap flight” websites. Another couldn’t speak to a government worker about a problem in their retirement payments. An online business owner couldn’t reach anyone to talk to, when his FB ads account was restricted.



    Stories like this are getting more and more common. I get it from a business perpective. Automated customer support, buts, phone automation, saves money, because less people need to be employed.



    But it makes crabby customer experience.



    Esp with the covid-1984 scamdemic and all the bs social distancing rules in place, people need humnan connection more than ever.



    People want and need to know there is another human being across the screen or phone line. Someone they know, like and trust. Someone that cares about them.



    This is where the market gap for the more moollah comes. Many people are starving for a personal connection.



    Many of the mega-corporations have marketing managers who have not picked up a phone and spoke to a customer for years.



    Many of the smaller companies also try to be like them. “We have to be more professional” they say.



    I say duck that bull crab.



    There is nothing better than connecting to your client and prospect base on a deep personal level.



    And this is something small businesses and one man shows can do better than mega corporations.



    Be yourself. Connect at a personal level. Let them know you care. Let them know you can help them solve their problems.



    Do that consistently, and you’ll soon have a group of rabid followers.



    Which will be your greatest business advantage no one can take away from you.
