centenarians (100 years old people and their secret)

centenarians (100 years old people and their secret)

i have always been fascinated with old age and the mental process that old age brings.

Jiroemon Kimura (Japan, b. 19 April 1897) was the last man to hold the record in 2012.

His personal motto was "eat light to live long" and believed it was the key to his longevity.

Before Kane, the oldest living person (female) was fellow Japanese woman Chiyo Miyako (b. 2 May 1901), who was 117 years and 81 days old, as verified on 22 July 2018.

Chiyo passed away on the 22nd of July 2018.

Kane Tanaka (Japan, b. 2 January 1903) is the oldest person living currently and the oldest person living (female) at the ripe age of 117 years and 41 days (verified on 12 February 2020).

Gerontologist across the global has agreed and attributed their long life to their kind of diet.

Gerontology is the scientific study of old age, the process of ageing, and the particular problems of old people

Unmistakably the people who live long come from southern Japanese Okinawa islands whose population is said to include the largest proportion of centenarians in the country and there you find what is supposedly known the village with the oldest demographic in the world, Ogimi

American gerontologist, Dr Craig Willcox, who has spent many years investigating Okinawan longevity and co-wrote a book, The Okinawa Program, outlining his findings (recommending that we "Eat as low down the food chain as possible"

    USA research:

A team of researchers at Loma Linda University in the United States has shown vegetarian men live for an average of 10 years longer than non-vegetarian men — 83 years compared to 73 years. For women, being vegetarian added an extra 6 years to their lives, helping them reach 85 years on average.

The Loma Linda team is behind the ground-breaking Adventist Health Study-1 regarding life expectancy. This study is considered the gold standard in the world of nutrition because it is a comprehensive, long-term study that involves a large number of people.

For 14 years, Loma Linda researchers tracked the diets, lifestyle and diseases among 34,000 Seventh-day Adventists. This Christian religion encourages a vegetarian diet and abstaining from alcohol and smoking. Adventists are ideal participants for large population studies, because most don’t smoke or drink. This makes it easier to see how their other lifestyle choices, particularly dietary choices, impact their health and longevity.

The study found that there were 5 key habits that could add years to your life. They were:

    Eating a plant-based diet,

Eating a handful of nuts regularly (around five times a week),

    Being active,

    Not smoking, and

    Being a healthy weight.

Here finally here in Zambia , 2 years ago, when I was presenting a study on dietetics and balancing plant based meals , i met a 100 year old man who was seated in the audience. My question to him straight up was WHAT IS YOUT SECRET in his firm and calm voice he responded in one word ACTIVITY.

I was like what do mean, he said I woke up everyday and I go in the field working , and I eat vegetables.

The man still walks, runs , active in the field and I guess in all other departments and this is at 100.

How old are you .. the question that only you can answer. am not asking about the number of your years but your actual communication your body makes which is devoid of the number of years you have lived. you could be 40 years yet living in a body of a 60 year old person.
