Today’s episode is part of a special series were doing to focus on the cutting-edge fluid power technologies and customer solutions on display at the 2024 iVT EXPO.
 
iVT EXPO is an annual exposition for the off high vehicle design and engineering community, with exhibits that are highly focused on a number of key technologies, including new powertrains, electric and hybrid systems, control systems, sensors, and autonomous technologies. Hydraulics serve as a key enabling technology for these vehicles and many of these systems, iVT EXPO offers an ideal platform for growth and expansion of hydraulics, both in its affiliated education program and on its show floor. 
 
Today, our guests are Bob Pettit, Director of Knowledge Development and Chase Younker, Electronics Product Manager, both at HAWE Hydraulik. HAWE is a manufacturer of hydraulic power units, pumps, valves and cylinders. We’ve invited these guests into our forum to learn about the applications that HAWE will be showcasing at their exhibit at iVT EXPO.

Today’s guest is Mike McVay. Mike is the Group President of Mobile Systems Integration at Cross Company. Cross Company has two groups involved in fluid power. The Hydraulics Group applies and sells hydraulic components, custom power units, custom manifolds and electronic control systems to an OEM customer base. Today, we invited Mike into our forum to learn about the applications that Cross Company will be showcasing at their exhibit at iVT EXPO.

On today’s show, our guests are James Simpson and John Mclaughlin. James is the Global Segment Director Energy, and John is the Director of R&D Services Americas, both at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. Trelleborg is one of the world’s leading developers, manufacturers and suppliers of precision seals, bearings and custom-molded polymer components.
Trelleborg is actively addressing the challenges of sealing hydrogen applications, offering advanced materials and testing facilities to ensure reliability and safety in high-pressure and extreme temperature environments. Today, we invited John and James into our forum to learn how hydrogen may impact the hydraulics of the future.

On today’s show, we have a special presentation from the latest NFPA Quarterly Technology Conference.
Our Quarterly Technology Conferences are done in collaboration with MSOE’s Fluid Power Industrial Consortium. They feature presentations on market-ready fluid power technologies and allow for networking across the fluid power supply chain – as suppliers, manufacturers, and OEMs come together for mutual benefit.
 Our March 7, 2024 event was focused on Fluid Power technologies that are helping to drive industrial machines towards Predictive and Preventative Maintenance. Two of our presenters were Kris Mikulan and Connor Dudas, both from Schroeder Industries.

Derek is Vice President of Integrated Circuit Solutions at Danfoss Power Solutions. Danfoss designs engineered hydraulic, electric, and electronic systems and components, for use primarily in off-highway mobile equipment and attachments. Recently, Danfoss expanded its cartridge valve portfolio, promising increased operator comfort and system efficiency, along with enhanced stability and safety. Today, we've invited Derek to our forum to delve into the impact of this portfolio on fluid power technologies.

Our first guest in this series is Adam Livesay. Adam is the co-founder of a company called Elevāt-- a Seattle-based Industrial IoT company focused on connecting the Industrial World. Elevāt powers the ecosystem of smart manufacturers, machines, and connected fleets to deliver smart services, products, and outcomes to the marketplace. We’ve had Adam on the podcast before to help discuss possible IoT applications for the fluid power industry.
