In addition to our five senses, we possess six intellectual faculties:
Reason Intuition Perception Imagination Memory Will What differentiates successful people is their ability to use these six intellectual or higher mind faculties to achieve success.
Hi, I’m Pascale Gibon. Welcome to episode 272 of The Everyday Life Balance Show.
As you know, Bob Proctor was one of my mentors. I am listening, at the moment, to the audio version of his book "Change Your Paradigm Change Your Life." In the audiobook, Bob Proctor reminds me of the importance of developing our intellectual faculties to transform our lives, achieve our goals and create lasting success habits.
In episode 105 of The Everyday Life Balance Show, I shared the six intellectual faculties, and in this new series, I want to develop each faculty individually over six weeks.
The higher mind faculty I want to start with is that of imagination.
Albert Einstein said that imagination is better than knowledge. When you observe children, they are good at using vivid imagination. However, it is a challenge for adults. Perhaps others told you to stop dreaming when you visualise a better life for yourself.
During the Gold Rush, migrants who moved to America were full of hope. Can you picture how they imagined a better life for themselves? They used their imagination to visualise what their new life would be. They anticipated a better life and opportunity. The Gold Rush is the largest mass migration in American history.
If you set goals for this year, imagination is necessary to accomplish your goal. It is essential to start with the end in mind to get a clear vision and to know what path to follow. When you use your imagination to clarify your end result or see where you want to go, you can move forward confidently and take the necessary actions.
The etymology of imagination is an image and picture to oneself. Therefore it is necessary to better yourself. In other words, you need to see yourself where you want to be and then bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
We often do not know what we want. However, when we set the intellectual faculty, imagination, in motion and it serves as a tool to create what we want, we become more confident that our wish can come true.
When you look at the things around you, realise that they are the fruits of imagination. There were first thoughts which then materialised on the physical plane.
If you have a new year resolution, I want you to write it down and do the exercise of seeing yourself already there, in other words seeing yourself as if you have already accomplished your dream.
For example, let us say that your goal is to reach your ideal weight. Your first action is to see yourself fitting into your chosen dress and internalising the emotion of accomplishing your goal and feeling radiant, fit, energised and on top of the world.
Another goal might be a change of career. Use your imagination to clarify your end result, your ideal job. To get your end in mind, imagine the following:
What are you doing? Who are the people you work with? What is your working environment like? Moreover, internalise emotionally feeling happy and comfortable in such a working environment.
We should not stop dreaming because the faculty of imagination that we possess helps us to progress.
I hope you enjoyed this episode.
Remember, now is your time to transform your life one step at a time.
To conclude this episode, start using your imagination to clarify your vision for your life. See yourself as if your chosen goal or resolution is already happening and internalise how it makes you feel once you achieve it.
Let us talk to set up a plan to achieve your most important goal this year. To schedule a complimentary “What’s Next” breakthrough call with me, go to pascalegibon.com/programmes.
