On May 8, 2024, a devastating tornado ripped through Maury county. 

Cap and Boppy, the duo behind Weather Down in Muletown, were studying the system days in advance. It isn’t the first time their stunning accuracy warned the Columbia community about dangerous weather.

The best part? They do it because they absolutely LOVE to study the weather. During the events of May 8, they added over four thousand people to their page. 

I met Adam (Cap) and Renee (Boppy) for the first time prior to the recording of this episode. The first thing they wanted me to know was that they were *not* meteorologists. They’re just people whose passion drives them to study the craft.

Dave Dutton is a prolific marketer. His Facebook title is bold with a Broca-surprising proclamation: 

“1.9 HS GPA. Survived. Turned $200 into millions.” 

Dave is pretty much a Spring Hill social media personality who’s clever posts and comments have a tongue-in-cheek bright humor to them. He built his real estate business by taking risks, working hard, and creating a personal brand. We talk about insights on personal and professional growth, financial freedom, and the challenges of wealth and success. 

An interesting point came up about knowing how you come off on social. It’s a tough thing to gauge, so you have to ask! It may not be pretty though….

Cole Evans is one of the most prolific media strategists I’ve ever known. He and I met working at a Nashville Radio group around 2007. It’s fair to say that Cole was the one who reintroduced me to long form audio production with his podcast “Brand Forward” in 2016.

Our conversation revolved around the evolving nature of marketing and advertising strategies in the digital age. We discussed the importance of staying prolific, adapting to changes in the media landscape, and measuring the effectiveness of media campaigns. I met Shane Ray in 2017 through a local coaching program. We hit it off immediately and have been friends ever since! He’s replaced some of my AC units and maintained others. He has one of the most franchise-able brands I have ever seen and he’s finding his way to that eventuality.

When we left Connecticut in 2001, we left the ability to get great New York-style pizza on a moment’s notice, from almost any pizza place. 

In Las Vegas, it took us 3 years to find a place that came close, but still too far.

In the Middle Tennessee area, we had better luck. My friend John Tumminello introduced me to Joey’s House of Pizza, which was in Brentwood at the time.

Upon entering the restaurant, the sights, smells and thick New York accents brought me back to those days when we lived in the Northeast….the days when we took getting good pizza very much for granted.   

I have been a champion of the Macca family ever since. When they opened a Joey’s House of Pizza in Spring Hill, you probably could have heard the celebration of joy coming from my house from several hundred yards away.  

Joey’s eventually moved to Elm Hill Pike, and then, much to just about the entire community’s chagrin, closed with no prior notice. The Spring Hill store is still open but has also moved and changed their name to Nelly’s, which is operated by Joey and Crescenza Macca’s daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Ryan.   

The Macca’s aren’t done. 

They’ve opened Macca Villa at Riverside in Murfreesboro, where you can still get your Joey’s House of Pizza fix as well as a beautiful property to have a wedding, celebrate an anniversary or have a really bodacious birthday blowout! 

“Ciao, y’all!” - Perfectly said, from a Brooklyn born, deeply Italian family who planted roots in our backyard back in the 80s.
