39: Growing up with the Body Image of Barbie Goddess Got Goals

    • Health & Fitness

According to an article online, only 15% women don't feel negative about any part of their body. So 85% have negative feelings every day.
There's no such thing as the perfect body because 'real women' look just like you and me. Not to mention why do we even need to call women - real or not real?
Women come in every conceivable shape and size so there is no perfect or normal way to be.
We ALL have lumps, bumps, fat bits, thin bits, wobbly bits, bits we don't like and bits we do like.
Body image is a massive debate but for me and what I'm trying to share is that most women are just so confused or don't even understand how to look or appreciate their body without judging it.
What is actually realistic? What is actually real?
Whereas now we have social media bombarding us with images, I personally think this started with growing up in an era of Barbie dolls.
Growing up with Barbie:
- With the size of her neck, she couldn't hold up her head- Her legs are double the lengths of your arms- Her wrists would be equivalent of 3 inches- Her waist to hip ratio is double the average- With 6inch ankles she would have to walk on all 4s
What does this do to our conditioning and body image beliefs as a child?
WOMEN’S BODIES ARE VALUED MORE THAN WOMEN THEMSELVES. WE ARE CONDITIONED THAT A SKINNY, SMOOTH & WRINKLE FREE BODY IS WORTH MORE THAN THE HUMAN BEING WITHIN.
We mistakenly believe our body is our life's masterpiece when our life is the masterpiece of our body.
